Officers from the Franklin Police Department organized a Christmas toy drive for the Santa Foundation, a non-governmental organization that helps low-income families, with the aim of giving them to poor children.

But something strange began to happen: Christmas toys were disappearing. Nobody suspected that Ben, a golden retrieverout the malevolent Grinch behind all this.

It is common to hear of people who hate Christmas, but no one had ever heard of a dog being arrested for stealing Christmas toys. The worst of all is that this tender criminal is part of the Franklin police force.

Ben, the golden retriever, works in the police department in the area of ​​therapy and psychological help. And he was the one who was taking the toys.

The cute dog was arrested for stealing Christmas toys, when one of the officers noticed that Ben (who had already taken another toy) took (another one): “a baby in its crib.”

‘When Ben saw the toys, he thought they all belonged to him,’ department head James Mill told WFXT.

Ben was exposed when he took the doll to his bed because there was enough evidence to prove that the dog had been taking other toys. Now Ben will have to face justice… well not really.

The only thing the officers did, as a safety measure, was put the donated toys on the tables at the station, to prevent Ben from having any more temptations.

‘Ben is like one of those friends that everyone loves. Even if you’re having a terrible day, if you see Ben he’ll light you up like a ray of sunshine,’ Mill told local media.
