According to nutritionist Rita Novais, apple sugar is about 0.8 to 1.8 times sweeter than white sugar. For this reason, its use ends up being reduced compared to the refined ingredient, as it will leave the recipe equally sweetened with less amount of product.

Another positive point is that it is natural, has no added preservatives and is an excellent source of fiber, helping to promote a greater feeling of satiety and facilitating intestinal transit.

“It is worth remembering, however, that its indication should only be made after nutritional evaluation, as some patients who have diabetes should not use it due to its high glycemic index”, emphasizes Rita.

How to use?

According to the nutritionist, apple sugar can be used in the same way as table sugar, even in the same proportions, to sweeten drinks and recipes in general.

“Since it melts at high temperatures, it can be used in preparations without harming the final flavor of the recipes”, she says, pointing out this similarity with the refined version.
