Olive oil: four brands are disapproved in Proteste’s assessment – ​​some weren’t even olive oil! – GOOD SHAPE

The benefits of extra virgin olive oil for health and diet are numerous. For this reason, it has become a staple on the menu of those who follow a healthy lifestyle. But, according to Proteste – Associação Brasileira de Defesa do Consumidor – before seasoning your salad, you should be careful with the products you are buying. After analyzing twenty olive oil brands, eight were disapproved. Of these eight, four were adulterated with other vegetable oils and four were not really extra virgin.

Products that cannot be considered olive oils are Pramesa, Figueira da Foz, Tradição and Quinta d’Aldeia. They were eliminated from the test after laboratory analysis confirmed a change in composition. This means that other vegetable oils have been added to olive oil, which is not permitted by law. In practice, when buying this product you are not getting the benefits that real extra virgin offers.

Furthermore, four brands cannot be classified as extra virgin. They are: Qualitá, Beirão, Carrefour Discount, Filippo Berio. The best olive oil, according to the analysis, is the Cocinero brand. He was chosen by the institution as the Best of the Test and The Right Choice. Authentic extra virgin olive oil, the product showed excellent quality, in addition to the best cost-benefit among those evaluated.
