Have you ever heard of mulungu tea? The name may seem strange, but this is one medicinal herb quite well known around here. Its main use is to treat anxiety, but it is also an ally of nutritionists.

What is mulungu tea and what is it for?

According to the nutritionist Marco Quintarelli, mulungu is widely used to treat the nervous system. He is an ally in the treatment of anxiety, Panic Syndromeinsomnia and even anxiety linked to binge eating – when you eat too much because you’re anxious.

“Mulungu is widely used to treat the nervous system,” he says. “For people with difficulty sleeping, who want to have a more peaceful life, and also acts on the inflammatory process. The nutritionist uses mulungu for those who have issues related to sleep or anxiety, eating all the time”.

Contraindications and precautions for consumption

As with any medicinal or herbal herb, consumption should be limited. According to the nutritionist, mulungu, in particular, should not be consumed throughout life, but a prescribed amount for a period. Marco says that he usually prescribes the consumption of 2 or 3 cups a day, a maximum of 600 ml, for three days for people who are very anxious.

Who has trouble sleeping you can use it a little more extensively: a cup before bed, for a month – and even then professional monitoring is necessary.

It is also essential to keep in mind the contraindications of tea: people who are using sedatives or painkillers, pregnant women and infants, those who live with gastrointestinal issues or have liver problems.
