This style of celebration has generated some controversy among mothers. In internet discussion groups it is common to refer to this type of celebration as a “motherhood party”. Veridiana points out, however, that this format is far from being a party.

“It is, in fact, a special decoration of the maternity suite with souvenirs and personalized treats. The objective is to provide more comfort to friends and family, always maintaining a climate of celebration of this unique moment, ”she says.

The vast majority of maternity hospitals allow the setting up of tables in the apartments. It is important that the team responsible for assembly is lean, fast and respectful of the hospital environment.

“The assembly always happens before the pregnant woman arrives and the disassembly takes place as soon as the pregnant woman and her baby leave the maternity ward. With this we guarantee complete privacy for family and friends. To ensure that everything happens within the expectations of our customers, we are available to the pregnant woman and, when requested, we visit the room to guarantee the tidying up and replace the souvenirs or sweets”, explains Veridiana Velasco, emphasizing that the visits take place at pre-arranged times. -combined with the mother.

The main mistakes

“It is very common for parents to decide for the reception at short notice. The ideal is to plan and hire the service well in advance, preferably two months before the expected date of delivery. So, at the time of birth, they are only concerned with the most important thing, which is the arrival of the baby”, says Veridiana.

The decorator chosen to set up the table in the suite must pay special attention to hygiene. “It must be discreet. Using sanitized materials, working with hair tied back and washing hands constantly are essential procedures for anyone who wants to work in maternity wards. After all, despite all the reasons to celebrate the birth of the baby, it is a hospital environment”, recalls Tati Ulhôa, from Decorando Emoções.

“In recent times we have seen several decorations filled with food displayed on counters close to the baby. This is strictly prohibited! Just talk to doctors and nurses to know that this can be dangerous for both the baby and the mother. I always suggest foods that are properly packaged in individual portions. In this way, there are no traces of food. Also, the more food available, the longer visits will stay. However, mothers are not always as willing as they would like. The idea is to receive well, but without exaggeration so as not to disturb other people”, advises Tati.

For the specialist, large productions are unnecessary and in order not to make mistakes, the ideal is to keep common sense. “Parents often forget that it is a hospital and make unusual requests. A father once asked me to install a beer cooler! I’ve seen decorators install panels inside the suite. These are absolutely unnecessary things, as they are forgetting that the reason for all this is a newborn baby who asks for a discreet and peaceful environment, ”she recalls.

When choosing the items that will make up the table, give preference to edible souvenirs with good durability and that do not require refrigeration. Veridiana suggests well-born, mini brownies, molded sweets and in jars. “The treats like flavorings, notepads and alcohol gel are also a good choice and are always a huge hit with friends”, recalls the decorator.

Not all rooms have an anteroom to accommodate large decorations. Therefore, it is essential to visit the maternity ward in advance to learn about the facilities and decide the size of the structure that the suite can house.

“Here at Ninú we have a reception package where we opted for a mini table with decorative pieces, crockery and boxes to accommodate sweets and souvenirs. The idea is to set up a charming corner to welcome friends in a celebratory mood, but without exaggeration,” says Veridiana.
