Man harasses two women and is beaten by a fighter in Cabo Frio

A man, still unidentified, became a target of the Civil Police after harassing two women in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro. One of the victims, Joyce Vieiraaged 27, is an MMA fighter and defended herself against abuse.

The two women were participating in a photo session in Praia do Forte when the boy approached and began to perform obscene acts. Joyce reports that she had already ended the session when she noticed the suspicious movement.

“I looked and said: ‘keep it there’. He said, ‘You didn’t like it, did you? Come here’. I was very angry that he had done that, because, usually, when these people are caught doing this, they deny it, pretend to be insane and leave”, he reports.

The fighter, however, was surprised when she realized that the harasser didn’t move away and continued practicing the obscene gestures. “My reaction was just to defend myself. I got really angry and reacted.”

Images shared on the Internet show Joyce running after the suspect, who tries to defend himself with blows. She tries to immobilize him, but he manages to get away.

suellen alb, the photographer who was with the fighter, recorded the moment. 🇧🇷I noticed that my camera was still in my hand and started taking pictures. But the ones I managed to take were from the final moments. I saw that he was leaving and I thought he needed to do that for us to have proof ”, he defends.

The case was taken to the Cabo Frio Women’s Police Station and was registered as sexual harassment. The photos taken by Suellen helped the police to have clues about the suspect.

The delegate responsible for the case, Juliana Rattes, explains that, in cases of harassment, the victim needs to go to the authorities, even without presenting evidence.

“At first, in the place itself, if possible, the victim should ask the police or whoever is nearby for help. If there is no one there, she must go to the nearest police station immediately after the abuse. The victim’s testimony is already proof. In cases where the author committed the crime in a place without a witness to be able to act, the victim’s word becomes even stronger as evidence”, explained the delegate.

According to information discovered by the victims, the boy had previously harassed a group of 5 people, including a 6-year-old child. The two women will be called to testify in the case.
