Learn to say the prayer against gossip and gossipers

Human beings were born to communicate and exchange information with others of their kind. This communication can be by talking, writing, drawing or sending smoke signals. What matters is sending a message and receiving another, preferably.

Communication or types of communication are part of the human relationship itself. The word relationship comes from reporting, saying something or communicating something to someone. Whatever the form or purpose, there is communication going on in a relationship. Even if it’s to speak ill of someone.

In a gossip, two or more people are maintaining “a friendly relationship” to gossip about a third person. Or, they’re communicating to piss off or talk bad about someone behind their backs. In short, a group of gossips is playing their favorite sport: talking bad about other people’s lives.

Gossip is the art of talking bad about other people’s lives without guilt. Gossip is gossip, intrigue and gossip. For many, it’s just unimportant fun that doesn’t do any harm. But it is extremely destructive if done well or when the tongue is not controlled.

And what generates gossip? Gossipers by profession. They are negative people, unloved, losers, unsuccessful, false, traitors, failures and liars by nature. Unhappy people who can’t stand the happiness, smile, success and tranquility of those who are happy with life.

It’s okay that there is soft or white gossip, the one that talks about someone without badmouthing them. It’s the same thing as saying that Santa Claus exists and that the Easter Bunny lays chocolate eggs.

Gossip is gossip. She is destructive. And whoever does it, does it on purpose and out of malice. In addition to eliminating gossiping people from our relationships, we can protect ourselves from gossip with prayers against gossip. See below.

Prayer against gossip 1

O God of my Praise, do not remain silent;

For the mouth of the wicked, the mouth of the false, are opened against me;

They speak against me with a lying tongue;

They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause;

In return for my love, they are my adversaries;

But I am a man of prayer, I repay evil for good in myself;

And hate in return for my love;

Set a wicked man over him, and let an accuser be on his right;

When he is judged, he will be condemned;

And let your prayer become sin;

Let your days be few and let another take up your office;

Let your children wander and beg and beg among desolate dwellings;

The creditor confiscates everything he has;

And strangers spoil the fruits of their labors;

Have no one to pity him;

And let no one have mercy on their orphans.

Prayer against gossip 2

Lord, I know I have many sins, among them, the awareness that I often took part in gossip.

If I collaborated, knowingly or not, to harm someone, forgive me and bless the person I hurt.

Hear the prayer of this child of yours who is the victim of gossip and suffers from malicious comments and unfounded backbiting.

Send your angels to protect me and deliver me from all the snares of evil.

And let every unfounded word spoken about me fall to the ground.

Keep me, my family, my work, my life away from all kinds of gossip.

I ask for the grace to forgive all those who in one way or another have harmed me with words, gestures and attitudes.

May they be transformed by your grace, Lord! Strengthen me, Lord, and grant me serenity so that I do not seek revenge, but use mercy.

Holy Spirit of God, be my help and deliver me from gossip.

Amen!
