What is the importance of astrological aspects?

It is normal that we are more familiar with the interpretation of planets in signs and houses. But if that were enough, all people with the Moon in Libra, for example, would be the same type of person – and we know that this is not the case.

It is precisely the astrological aspects that provide these variations. This is because, in these cases, two or more planets act together and this performance depends on the angular distance between each one of them.

However, aspects have characteristics that need to be observed, such as type, state they are in, and cosmic state. It is the interpretation of all these particularities that will help to understand the reading of your Astral Map.

Types of astrological aspects

Either aspect can be harmonious or disharmonious, and this depends on the signs that are activated and the nature of the planets involved. For example: a conjunction between Venus and Mars is harmonious, as they are stars that combine well. The conjunction between Mars and Uranus is understood as disharmonious.

It is worth remembering that a harmonious or disharmonious aspect does not necessarily mean that it is something good or bad. Just that the planets have more affinities.

Astrological aspects can have three different states

According to astrologer Alexey Dodsworth, this is one of the points that deserves close attention. Astrological aspects can be in three different states: application, separative and partil.

Application Aspect: Happens when the faster star is in a lower degree than the slower star, either in conjunction, opposition or any other type of aspect. Over time, the application aspect becomes stronger. In practice, it’s something that takes more and more effort to master.

Separative Aspect: This is the opposite of the previous one. It’s when the fastest star is in a degree superior to the slowest star. Consequently, it becomes easier to control over time, thanks to the emotional maturation of the individual.

Partile Aspect: In this case, the two stars are in the same degree. It is here that the aspect finds its zenith.

Eventual cosmic state and the essential dignities

This is the third point to be observed in the astrological aspects of your Astral Map. There are four cosmic states where the planets involved can be found:

Exaltation

Fall

These states are called Essential Dignities and determine the capacity of a planet to perform its functions according to its position in the Astral Chart.
