Jennifer Aniston spoke openly about the assumptions that she chose a career over children

“When are you going to have kids?” is probably one of the most frequently asked questions asked by women over 30. Celebrity or not, it’s always irritating to be asked about it and Jennifer Aniston is no exception. Throughout her career and at age 53, the actress has heard many nasty rumors about her life, but she does her best to stay centered, focusing on her personal well-being.

We, from awesome.clubwe believe that no woman should be asked about her decision whether or not to have children and we applaud Aniston for having the courage to squash these rumors by responding in an open and frank way.

The inconsequential assumptions saying that Aniston chose her career over children are not true

As revealed in an interview, the actress never in her life said she did not want to be a mother. She finds it inspiring that women have a career and are dedicated to motherhood at the same time, so she sees no reason to limit herself to just one option. “I always wanted to have children and I would never give up that experience for a career. I want to have it all.”

She was blamed for the failure of her marriage to ex-husband Brad Pitt, saying she didn’t want to start a family.

However, nothing went as planned and they divorced in 2005 after five years together. Shortly thereafter, Brad Pitt appeared with his new girlfriend, Angelina Jolie, announcing in 2006 that they were expecting their first child.

This made people think that the actor was looking forward to starting a family, but supposedly Aniston didn’t want the same and that was the possible reason why their marriage ended in divorce. These accusations hurt the actress and she explained that they are not true.

Aniston used to take all the rumors about her life very personally.

There were many misconceptions floating around about her, such as: “Jen can’t keep a man” or “Jen refuses to have a baby because she is selfish and committed to her career.” For the actress, it was very painful to know how everyone tried to tell her story. “It’s like, ‘You have no idea what’s going on with me in my personal life, my health, why can’t I… can I have kids?’ They don’t know anything.”

And even though all these things were made up, she sometimes finds it difficult to remain indifferent. But she does her best to stay balanced and prepared about it and tries to focus on her work, her friends and animals and how to make the world a better place. “Most of the time I can sit back and laugh at the ridiculous headlines as they just got more and more absurd,” she revealed.

She wrote a heartfelt letter stating that women are complete with or without children.

“Here is where I take up this topic: we are complete with or without a partner, with or without a child. We can decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies. That decision is ours and ours alone. Let’s make that decision for ourselves and for the young women of this world who look up to us as role models. Let’s make this decision consciously, outside of tabloid noise.

We don’t need to be married or mothers to be complete. We can determine our own ‘happily ever after’ for ourselves. I’m tired of being part of this narrative. Yes, I might become a mother someday, and since I’m explaining all of that here, if that happens, I’ll be the first to let you know. But I’m not pursuing motherhood because I feel incomplete in some way, as our celebrity news culture would lead us to believe.”

If you were in Jennifer Aniston’s shoes, what would you say to people who make the wrong assumptions about your life? What do you think of the actress’ attitude? Leave your opinion in the comments.
