Insomnia: esoteric teaches to calm the spirit

These are rush times. We look at the clock and the pointer goes far, far ahead of our needs and expectations. The day flies by, full of sound and fury. A lot of things inevitably end up being left for the next day, hectic, full, stressful.

In the evening, at home, time to quiet down, relax and center the spiritual order. But, it’s not always easy. It follows, by inertia, in that vibrant rhythm of the day, head buzzing, heart beating. By the time you realize it, time has run out and it’s – literally – too late.

Dawn came, TV on, computer pumping, eyes popping… it’s insomnia! Black panther, intruder, invades our lives with greater or lesser frequency. On certain occasions it awakens anger – which many want to scare away with brooms, cleaning the house -, gluttony – and there is a refrigerator attacked – or simple stoicism – when the help is a good book, sought by many as in migraines we want an analgesic.

Rarely, occasionally, insomnia can be helpful and productive. That adrenaline rush to close a project, an indispensable impulse to complete something, a decisive sprint at the end. These are rare occasions because, in general, it wears us out. You need to sleep well. In sleep the spirit departs from the body. It can, freed, navigate regions of restoration, allowing on the other hand that matter, left at rest, recompose physical attributes. In short, as medicine and spirituality have long known, sleep is a balm, it regenerates.

We need to sleep well. But the problem is the noise. Not the outside – whose extreme case, fortunately rare (I hope), such as the “thump-thump-thump” of the neighbor’s electronic party, is the responsibility of competent authorities -, the inside. We need to learn to desonorize our inner space.

The recipe is simple. You should go to bed with thirty minutes allotted to turn everything off. Darkness (or light twilight for those who feel safer) and silence. Time to breathe calmly and put your thoughts in calm. Order chaos and suppress destructive emotions. It’s hard at first, then with repetition and discipline, it gets simpler.

The rule is to reassure. Let go, refuse tensions and problems. It’s like wine. When stirred, it becomes cloudy, but when left still, it becomes transparent. Be patient with snakes and dragons that invade the sheets. It usually works. However, another possibility is that of needing to rebalance spiritual issues, dealing with obsessors, frightening and distressing people. Another very complex path that must be followed to ensure good nights.
