Everyone knows that a reality show doesn’t show reality as it is. All this turns the everyday life of the participants into a real series, which millions of viewers cannot but watch.
O awesome.club decided to find out what was true and false in 9 of the most popular reality TV shows. And we must admit that the result surprised us: 3 of the programs turned out to be unexpectedly true.
Pimp My Ride
Pimp My Ride it was the coolest reality show of the early part of this century, in which the guys revamped vintage cars into fantastic cars with televisions in the cabin and huge speakers in the trunk. But in 2015, the Huffington Post interviewed former project participants, and it turned out that not everything was as happy as it appeared on television.
The cars remained in the program hangars for approximately six months.and not just a few weeks, as they showed.
Only a superficial transformation was done, the interior parts and most of the big improvements were removed from the car immediately after filming ended (mainly due to safety regulations, because putting a monitor in the door to watch a movie, when you open the door… you know ). A completely rusted car, parts falling apart: many of these problems were invented by the producers from the beginning to the “wow” effect at the end. The stories, of course, were often made up as well.
“I know I’m quite fat, but they went too far… According to the plot, there were chocolates all over my car, supposedly in case I got hungry, but I never had candy in the car, it was made up. especially for the show. In the end they installed a cotton candy machine in the trunk, I think they liked the idea and just used a fat guy to do it.”
The final was often re-recorded after the line: “We tried hard, come on, show more emotions”.
The one thing all participants remember with sincere warmth is the presenter, Xzibit. One of the participants remembers: “He was always relaxed, happy and full of energy”.
The Bachelor
This reality show feels like a pre-arranged fairy tale. And indeed it is, and now we will try to explain the reasons.
First, the selection: some of the girls are invited to increase the audience; for example, well-known models or bloggers. Others are those of the non-standard type: strange nationality or profession, extravagant appearance, difficult life, etc.

According to what some of the participants reported, the producers always talked to them before the vote, debating and proposing hypothetical options for the development of the script: “What would happen if that player left? And if you say so?”. These questions sparked new thoughts in the competitors’ minds and, on some occasions, caused them to make a different decision than they had initially thought. It is manipulation, but on the other hand, not direct intervention. The film crew helped the participants, but everything was limited to reports that a cameraman had lent them a lighter (where the program showed that the fire had been lit with the help of glasses and sunlight) or that a journalist shared a candy. But that was the best. As for the theory that there was a hotel where the contestants actually stayed while on camera they pretended to be Aboriginal, the hotel actually existed. But he was only for the team and usually stayed on a neighboring island. In the place of action, with the participants there were only 5 people: 2 cameramen, 2 journalists and a doctor.
Bottom line: judging by the stories of all former contestants and organizers, the show was real and difficult because the producers followed a very strict protocol. And confirmed by the fact of a significant weight loss of many of the participants.
The Voice
