15 Everyday Things That Have a Hidden Purpose

The things we use every day become such an important part of our routine that we rarely notice their simplest functions. However, look carefully and you might notice that your favorite items are designed to do a lot more than you thought. For example, the small brushes next to the escalator are not for polishing shoes, but a nice safety feature.

O awesome.club found some items that we use daily and that have amazing hidden functions that you probably don’t know about.

1. Little buttons on your jeans

These tiny buttons are called rivets and are placed in the areas that are most likely to tear your jeans due to strain or movement. They make your jeans last much longer.

2. The number “57” embossed in the middle of the Heinz ketchup bottle

Do they give medals to the slowest ketchup in the world? Immediate answer: Heinz has the only iconic glass bottle, which drops its contents at 0.045 km/h.

As for the 57, this number has been watching us forever, but according to Heinz, only 11% of people know it has nothing to do with the product label. This is the ideal place to tap and put ketchup on your plate. So the next time you have one of these bottles in your hands, stop hitting the bottom and try to do it at that point.

3. Cracks at the bottom of the cups

4. The holes in the pot handles aren’t just for hanging them up.

Many people hang pots and pans through the small holes they have in their handles. However, in the case of pans, they can also be used to hold spoons while cooking and thus prevent everything from getting dirty.

5. The hole in the pen cap has nothing to do with it or the ink

6. The little pompoms on the hats aren’t just a cute touch.

This style was introduced by French sailors so they wouldn’t hit their heads on the roofs of ships that were too low. Later, the design was adapted by army troops and that’s how the pompoms ended up on our beautiful hats.

7. The small groove at the end of the measuring tape

Most measuring tapes come with a piece of metal and a small slit at the end. This is used to place a nail and take measurements without using the other hand. Look closely and you’ll see that the end of one side is ragged. This can be used to mark points without having to use a pencil.

8. Most medicine bottles are child-proof

9. The reliefs on the “F” and “J” keys on the keyboard

10. The brushes on the sides of escalators are not for polishing your shoes

It is possible that you use these brushes located on the sides of the escalators to clean your shoes. However, these bristles are a great safety feature. One of the most important reasons for mishaps with these devices is that people’s clothes, as well as the bags they carry, get caught when they are too close to the sides of the stairs.

These nylon bristles play with your mind and keep your feet away from the stair panels, preventing accidents.

11. You can also use your screwdrivers as wrenches

A large amount of screwdrivers can easily slide through a screwdriver and can be used to further tighten. This feature is especially useful in high places and tricky angles.

12. The arrow next to the fuel tank symbol has a very particular meaning

13. The little handles on an iPhone charger

14. The little dot next to the camera on iPhones is not a flash

This small dot is not a flash. It’s actually a microphone to record when you’re using the rear camera.

15. Most padlocks have a small hole next to the slot to insert the key.
