Homemade facial massage: movements to relieve tension from the face –

It improves skin tissue oxygenation and, consequently, helps to promote the circulation, taking nutrients from the blood to the skin. With that, we feel the face with more vigor, with the facial contour accentuated and with a lifting effect, in addition to reducing dark circles and lines of tension. We are not talking about some miraculous mask, but a free technique that lasts about five minutes: the homemade facial massage.

You can do it every day, either in the morning, before makeup (the make will be even better); or at night, to ease the stress that accumulates due to the new routine and it is evident in the marks of expression. “I like to see facial massage beyond its aesthetic effects. It is, above all, a gesture of self-care and relaxation, as it stimulates the release of endorphins”, explains pharmacist Fernanda Chauvin (@dra. fernandachauvin), specialist in cosmetology anddirector of Ellementti Dermocosméticos.

Fernanda says that, depending on the movement, the results are different. “The pressure lowers the tensions. Pinching techniques (small pinches) improve circulation. Already, the stretching guarantees the effect lifting. It is also good to remember that the direction must always be upwards (from bottom to top), against gravity.”

And you can still use the cream or the liquid soap that you use on your face to generate greater glide on the skin during the massage. Just don’t forget the other care too they are essential for tissue health. “You have to worry about water intake and balanced diet. Because they are at home, people end up forgetting about dermatological care. But we still suffer aggression from some pollutants such as electronics, stove heat, mites and dust”, says the specialist.

The finger movements work on the same principles as the popular facial massage rollers or crystals. “But, in addition to the finger technique not having the cost of devices, there are more possibilities for movement”, says Fernanda. She taught us a step by step session. See how to do it:

Forehead: Start with zig and zag movements in the region, they take the tension out of the skull and relax the forehead. To do this, place your middle and index fingers just above the end of your eyebrow. Applying light pressure, bring these fingers up and slightly closer to the other side of the forehead. Reaching the hairline, move your fingers down applying equal pressure. Continue the movement until you reach the other side of the forehead and then do the return movement.
eyebrows: With the two index fingers, apply some pressure to the inner corner of the two eyebrows It’s great for those suffering from sinusitis. After six seconds, drag your fingers to the middle of the eyebrows, lift them and apply another six seconds of pressure. Finally, drag your fingers to the outer corner, lift again and hold for 6 seconds.
Eyes: In the outer corner of eyes, use the fingers of one hand to stretch the skin in the area towards the hairline. With the other hand, swipe the index finger repeatedly in a motion that starts near the bottom of the outer corner of the eye and goes diagonally upwards and outwards towards the hairline. Repeat six times.
Chin: Give small pinches to your skin, starting at your chin, going up your jaw and stopping near your ear. When you reach the limit of the jaw, still with the skin pinched, make circular movements, like a small massage (it’s great for those who have bruxism).
Mouth: Give small pinches going from the outer corner of the lips up to the ears. Then, do the same pinching movement on the lips themselves, starting from the center and going to the outer corners.
Neck: With the head facing upwards, “hug” the neck with the hands, joining the base of the palms of the hands in the middle of the neck, with the thumbs facing downwards. Apply light pressure and bring your hands up to your chin. Repeat the process in the opposite direction (down to the lap).
Nose: Bring both hands together in front of the nose as if in prayer. Applying light pressure, bring your hands towards your face so that they encircle your nose (still in prayer position) and then each one is directed towards the ear that corresponds to your side, stretching the skin well. Repeat six times.
