Have you had a creepshot taken?

A creepshot is a sexualized photo taken without the subject’s knowledge. By sexualized I mean a photo “of her butt or her cleavage.” In general, they are photos of women taken in clandestine ways (if the girl poses, it is not a creepshot).

Unlike an upskirt – in which the unsuspecting girl’s underwear is visible – a creepshot is not illegal, at least in the United States.

On Reddit these types of photos are very popular, and the Creepshots subreddit was recently blocked. On Metareddit, which are conversations on Reddit, (I also got a little lost), there is one with the rules about this practice.

It catches my attention that they say that the photos shared on the internet must be “of the creeper variety”

What is this?

It is difficult to translate, but it would be something like “perverted in nature”, with that ingredient that the subject should not realize. Upskirt photos are prohibited, and also those of schoolgirls (girls who go to school) unless you can prove that they are of legal age.

Because it is important?

Because it seems to me that the debate is about what is legal and what is not. There was a subreddit called Jailbait for pornographic photographs of minors, for example.

We agree that that is not valid. But how valid is it for a guy to not only sneak a look at your butt but also take a photo of it and share it? When it is a photo that you sent him, it is a violation of your trust, but, if you do not know that he is photographing you, is it a violation of your privacy?

Another rule mentioned by the metareddit in question is that you should not upload photos of a situation in which the “subject” feels relatively private. >No girls sleeping in your roommate’s bed or sunbathing in their garden. This apparently is illegal in the United States.

But, even if it seems perverted, shameless or immoral, if you are in public this rule does not apply. Technically, there is a right to “see but not touch.” Is it worth seeing and immortalizing in a photo? Share it with your friends? Where is the limit?

In any case, perhaps “creepshot” is a neologism and it is true that cameras on mobile phones have made things a lot easier recently, but – as the song says – “how cute your cucu is, round and soft, how beautiful your cucu is” is old like the human race. What do you think?
