Who is Fermín Ordoñez in Bronco: the series?

To begin with, his real name is Óscar Flores and, as we saw in chapter 2 of ‘Bronco: the series’, he was the first to give Los Bronco de Apodaca a chance.

It was in 1981, at one of the group’s concerts that Oscar Flores approached them to offer his service as representative and promoter. The Broncos, excited, accepted and signed the contract with him.

From then on, Óscar Flores dedicated himself to promoting the group’s career in any way possible: he gave them a makeover, modified the instruments that each one played.

It didn’t take long before these efforts bore fruit, and with the help of Óscar Flores, Bronco had its best era and became the most successful group of its genre.

It was also Flores who hired Blanca Martínez, known in the media as Chicuela to be the band’s press officer.

However, the friction between Flores and Esparza was constant. Many times Lupe Esparza tried to measure the pace of the band’s work to balance his musical career with family life, but Flores prevented him from doing so.

Oscar Flores, Bronco and The Giant of America

Everything would change definitively in 1996, when rumors arose of the disintegration of Bronco.

In 1997, the band would record their last album and announce their temporary retirement from the stage and would even have a farewell special on the well-known program Siempre en Domingo.

From there they would not return to music until six years later, in 2003. The big problem is that, thinking that Grupo Bronco would never return, Lupe Esparza had transferred the rights to the name to Oscar Flores.

So, when they wanted to return to the industry, with Servando Cano as their new representative, they found that they would have to negotiate hard with Óscar Flores to recover their name.

At first they tried to buy the rights to the name, but the amount demanded by Óscar Flores was simply unpayable. So the group decided to use the name ‘The Giant of America’.

In this regard, Lupe Esparza said that “The person who had the name is not to blame, it was their fault for being good people, for being people who trust, for being people with a transparent soul.”

How did Bronco get its name back?

During the years they recorded as ‘The Giant of America’, Bronco could neither record nor give concerts in Mexican territory.

“Many things happen to us on the journey, Choche leaves us, Javier decides to retire, the Bronco is formed with me and my boys and I decide to recover the name.”

And so it was, in 2017 OCESA and Sony reached an economic agreement with Óscar Flores to recover the Bronco name.

To date it is unknown how much the former manager was paid for the transfer of rights, but thanks to her, after almost 10 years, the band was called Bronco again on their album ‘Primera Fila’.

What is Óscar Flores doing currently?

Currently Óscar Flores is still in the music industry at the head of his company Apodaca Group.

Although he has been questioned a lot about his relationship with Grupo Bronco, he has limited himself to saying that Lupe Esparza and Ramiro must resolve their differences and leave everything in the past.

About the series, he has said that he is not interested in seeing it, but he hopes that things are told as they happened in real life.

‘Bronco: The Series’ airs every Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 on TNT. You can also watch it live on the TNT GO site by entering your cable service email and password.
