Easy tricks to remove glitter from your face, body and hair –

It’s time to put on the costume, the wig and the glitter! Literally. Carnival is here and you rocked the glitter… But after the party, nothing from him come out? Follow the valuable instructions of beauty artist Alex Cardoso, from salon 1838, in São Paulo, to remove the product without problems.

Face

Let’s be honest: there’s no way to avoid a glittery make-up at Carnival! If you’ve applied to specific areas (such as the temples and eyelids), start by removing the particles with a wide adhesive tape and then apply a cotton pad with biphasic makeup remover – the more oily, the better. “As it has superadherence, the glitter only comes off with oil-based products”, explains Alex. Make movements in one direction: from the center of the face to the sides.

In case you’ve exaggerated a bit – who hasn’t?! –, apply vegetable oil all over your face (olive oil and coconut oil are good options) and massage with your fingers until the particles begin to detach from the skin. Then just wash with soap.

Oh, and avoid exfoliating creams or masks, okay? “Rubbing the face with the beads + the glow can cause some level of aggression,” she advises.

Body

In case the joke goes a little beyond the make-up – we also love to highlight the neckline with glitter! –, before getting into the shower, apply vegetable oil all over your body and massage. When the glitter is already loose, wash normally. Bonus: your skin will feel super hydrated!

Hair

If you’ve practically dipped into a pool of glitter, don’t despair! Hygienize the wires with an anti-residue shampoo (if necessary, wash more than once) and, after rinsing, apply the one you use on a daily basis. “Since these products dry out the hair a lot, before getting out of the shower, make a very moisturizing mask on the locks”, advises Alex.

The technique works well for beards too (tip for the boy!).
