10 Backstreet Boys Facts to Commemorate the World Tour

Backstreet Boys fans are delighted with the announcement of the world tour for 2019 and the release of the new album called DNA. More or less 25 years have passed since the success of this boy band, now it only remains to be seen if they will be able to conquer the new generations.

1. Nick Carter’s young age

Nick was just 13 years old when he joined the group. In addition, he had auditioned to participate in mickey mouse club, a show created by Walt Disney. His mom wanted him to work on the show and not be in the band so he wouldn’t drop out of school. Disney offered the teenager $50,000, but he opted for music.

2. Kevin Richardson’s Temporary Exit

Kevin Richardson left the group in 2006. In his own words, he made this decision to start another chapter in his life. We don’t know if he was referring to fatherhood, but in 2007 Kevin became a father for the first time. In a concert celebrating the band, his return was announced, in addition to his participation in the new album.

3. Ryan Gosling could have been part of the group

The actor lived in the same condominium as AJ McLean. When the band project started, he received a proposal to join the group. Gosling turned down the offer because he thought it would not be successful.

4. Brian Littrell has his own foundation

Brian had to have an open-heart operation in 1998 for a birth defect. After going through this terrible experience, he decided to create a foundation to help children with heart problems. The organization is called Health Heart Club For Kids and offers medical and financial help.

5. Nick Carter in Edward Scissorhands

Nick Carter was just 10 years old when he appeared in Tim Burton’s film. In the scene, Peg takes Edward through the neighborhood and Nick appears in his bathing suit playing in the doorway of one of the houses.

6. Kevin Richardson’s work before joining the band

Before joining the Backstreet Boys, Kevin worked at one of the Disney parks in Orlando, where he played Aladdin and one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There he met his wife Kristin, who played the role of Beauty in Beauty and the Beast🇧🇷

7. An unusual record

In 2016 the band managed to break the record for the largest number of people of different nationalities in a Jacuzzi. This happened while on a Mediterranean cruise. They got 30 people from different countries to enter the Jacuzzi. They needed to show their passport and stay at least 5 minutes inside.

8. Howie’s Hardest Moment

He lost his sister in 1998 to a disease called lupus and couldn’t make it in time for one last hug. To honor her and help people who suffer from the same problem, he created the foundation dorough lupus which offers financial and psychological help to people suffering from the disease, in addition to raising money for research.

9. Johnny NoName (Johnny NoName)

Johnny NoName is the name of AJ McLean’s alter ego. This character is used by the singer to refer to himself when he is alone, not part of the band. In the beginning, he used the last name Johnny Suede, like in the film starring Brad Pitt, but the producer threatened him and he had to choose another name.

10. Homage to the Spice Girls

In the sixth edition of the band’s cruise (BSB Cruise) they had a 90’s themed party. For the event, they decided to honor the Spice Girls, and dressed like them. Kevin was Victoria Beckham, AJ was Mel B, Nick was Emma, Howie was Geri and Brian was Mel C.
