Do I have to poop every day? – GOOD SHAPE

Not necessarily! “The ideal is to evacuate every day. But the normal thing is to go to the bathroom once every three days and, at most, three times a day”, says digestive system surgeon @drrodrigobarbosa.

The expert explains that what really counts is the consistency of your poop. It should have shape, but come off without difficulty. For this to happen, it is worth betting on three very important habits: food rich in fibershydration and physical exercise.

Rodrigo says that the intestinal cavity is made up of muscles, and exercises manage to stimulate the region and improve the processing of ingested food. But he also remembers that there is no point in consuming a lot of fiber if you don’t drink enough water. “Without the liquid, the intestine cannot make the stool pasty, turning it into hard balls that are very difficult to eliminate.”

And then, a problem suffered by many Brazilians appears: constipation. “It is characterized when the individual spends three days without going to the bathroom or when they experience difficulty in passing stool, either due to dryness or the need to strain to evacuate.”
