9 Extremely Hard Game Questions “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” that were worth the grand prize

Who wants to be a millionaire is a game that exists in several countries around the world and, in Brazil, it may have started with the classic Million Show on SBT. The program gained very high popularity very quickly and, later, other versions were presented on Brazilian television, as well as worldwide.

To test your knowledge, the awesome.club gathered some of the most difficult questions, which were decisive for the participants to win or not the final prize. The questions were taken from versions of the program in different countries. See if you could get it right!

This question was asked on December 10, 2001. The participant said he was inclined to answer “Hegel”, but preferred to stop and keep the money already accumulated. Otherwise, if he was wrong, he would lose everything. Afterwards, he was relieved by his choice, as the one who composed music inspired by Pushkin’s poems was Nietzsche.

2. First Nobel Prize in Literature

Which literary class won the first Nobel Prize for Literature?

A: Romance

D: Rehearsal

The participant bravely decided to answer the question, but had no luck. The first winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature was the Frenchman Sully Prudhomme, who was a poet.

3. “Folkloric” element

Which element of the periodic table is named after an “evil” underground gnome?

A: Hafnium

B: Cobalt

C: Beryllium

D: Tellurium

The name “Cobalt” comes from the German kobold, which means “demon of the mines”. This elf is part of German national folklore. The participant answered correctly and took home the grand prize.

4. History of the Soviet subway

In which of these capitals of the former Soviet republics was the first subway built?

A: Tbilisi (Georgia)

B: Yerevan (Armenia)

C: Baku (Azerbaijan)

D: Minsk (Belarus)

The question was from 2012. The participant did not know that the fourth subway in the USSR, after Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev, was built in Georgia, in Tbilisi. Therefore, he chose to keep the accumulated money.

5. Balkan Seas

How many seas bathe the Balkan Peninsula?

First, let’s be honest: not everyone knows exactly where the Balkan Peninsula is and what the “Balkan” countries are. And those who know, sometimes confuse it with the Peloponnese. In reality, however, Greece, Macedonia and Albania represent only a southern part of the great Balkan Peninsula. Therefore, the region is washed by the Mediterranean (south), Aegean (southeast) and Ionian (southwest) seas. But it is also washed by the Adriatic and Black Seas and the tiny Marmara Sea, near Istanbul. The participant answered the question correctly.

What novel did James Fenimore Cooper write after an argument with his wife?

One of his most famous works is The last of the Mohicans, which many consider his greatest and most important work. However, after arguing with his wife, he wrote Precaution🇧🇷 The participant got the answer wrong.

7. Question for historical reconstructionists

What kind of cavalry was intended not only for fighting on horseback, but also on foot.

A: Cuirassiers

B: Ulans

C: Dragons

D: Hussars

Ulans and Hussars are representatives of light cavalry, and Couraceiros, of heavy. Only Dragons traveled on horseback, but they dismounted to fight on foot. In 2017, participants answered this question correctly.

8. Interesting theological studies

B: Eugene

C: George

D: Victor

A question worthy of Jude Law (for the series the young pope🇧🇷 One Valentine, 4 Eugenies and 5 Victors, 2 of whom were considered “antipopes” (i.e. illegitimate popes — imposters). All this took place a long time ago, in the 9th-14th centuries. There has never been, however, a pope by the name of George—among both young and old popes. The participant preferred not to risk it.

9. Catherine the Great’s Little Homeland

In which German city was the future Empress of Russia, Catherine II, born?

A: Wiesbaden

B: Zerbst

C: Stettin

D: Darmstadt

Those who are very fond of History should remember that the maiden name of the great Empress Catherine was Sophia Frederica Augusta Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg. But calm down. Title was one thing, and place of birth was not necessarily the same. The great Empress was born in the Prussian city of Stettin, which is now part of Polish territory (known as “Szczecin”). The participant didn’t want to risk it and left with the accumulated money.
