CNH Digital is now mandatory across the country

In addition to the CNH (National Driver’s License) printed, the issuance of the digital version of the document becomes mandatory in all units of the Federation, according to the National Council of Justice (CNJ).

With the help of a free application, the document can be accessed by cell phone, which helps the driver to avoid fines, especially on those days when he forgets the letter at home.

To access its digital version, in addition to downloading the application, it is necessary to have the most current model of the printed document. To identify it, it must have been issued from May 2017 and have a QR Code inside.

In the application, it is not mandatory to have a digital certificate – an electronic signature with the same validity as the physical signature. Even so, those who do not have it must go to a unit of the State Department of Transit (Detran) to confirm their personal data.

The use of the digital version of the CNH is optional, while the printed one will continue to be issued. Before the obligation, most states already offered the digital document, with the exception of Bahia and Pará. However, it is up to each state to decide whether or not to charge for issuing the document.
