Smoothies, cakes, juices… If you keep up with the trends in the fit world, you must have noticed that they are turning blue. That’s because most contain the famous Blue Majik, an extract of the blue-green Arthrospira algae. Despite being very similar to the green one, the new version won over the public for containing more nutrients, vitamins (especially B12), enzymes and minerals and also for its vibrant blue hue, which is caused by C-phycocyanin, a type of protein rich in amino acids. Far beyond the hue, studies show that C-phycocyanin is rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and may promote brain health.
Because it is a powder derived from seaweed, the taste alone may not be as pleasant, but you can include it in smoothies and even cakes. See how Blue Majik is being used – and shared on social networks:

About Spirulina
This seaweed is one of the best sources of vegetable protein. It contains about 65% of this nutrient, much more than meat (20%), eggs (12%), whole milk (3%), soy (35%) and peanuts (25%). It also contains beta-carotene (ten times more than carrots), vitamin E, minerals, essential amino acids and good fats. “Rich in B complex vitamins, present in red meat, it is essential for vegetarians”, says nutritionist Alessandra Luglio. Extra benefits: A study published in the North American journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise states that the antioxidants in spirulina help muscles recover after training. They also favor the breakdown and elimination of fat molecules, in addition to releasing substances that make you feel full. How to consume: Add 1 spoon (tea) of the powder in juices and vitamins.
