I have a contradictory experience with SPAs: I love it and always want to go but, at the same time, I think that “this week is not enough”, there is no way to leave the tasks aside.

But it is precisely in these periods of life, when everything is crazy, that we most need to look for these ways of dedicating ourselves.

Of course, most of our jobs don’t allow us to just drop everything and spend a week in a paradisiacal place, but there are escape alternatives even within the chaotic city of São Paulo.

This is the case of Anantara SPA, located in the Tivoli Mofarrej SP hotel, in the gardens, a neighborhood in the heart of the new center, right next to the iconic Av. Paulista.

When I was invited to try a treatment that combines the holistic benefits of Thai tradition with Brazilian influences, the Tropical Experience, I didn’t hesitate. And I didn’t regret it.

Honestly, it was quite different from any SPA I’ve ever been to.

Normally, SPAs focus on a strong contact with nature or on a very “clean” environment, with light and cold colors.

Not Anantara. It is as if you were inside one of the hotel rooms, but a room completely dedicated to your relaxation. The whole environment is dark, closed with black curtains and the light is low and warm, all very relaxing.

The contact with nature is more for the look, as the view leads straight to the green, with trees surrounding the place.

The experience, therefore, is perfect for those who love nature, but do not give up a more “chic” touch in these moments facing you.

THE TROPICAL EXPERIENCE

Exfoliation, massage, hydration, hydromassage… the complete package (./Disclosure)

The treatment combines the holistic benefits of Thai tradition with Brazilian influences and aims to nourish, hydrate and purify, promoting relaxation for body and mind.

You change in the bedroom’s bathroom (by the way, another dark and cozy environment) and start with a foot bath, where exfoliation and hydration are performed.

Afterwards, you move on to the heated stretcher (perfect for those cold days that have been going on), where the body exfoliation begins. After a shower to remove the product (made with grapes and almonds), hydration and a complete massage with heated oil begins. A “well done” massage, in which the professional really dedicates a lot of time to the areas that bother you.

Everything ends with a hydromassage bath, when you are left alone in the huge room to enjoy your moment and bathe later.

Lasting 120 minutes, the Tropical Experience leaves a complete feeling of wellness.

DIFFERENTIATED PROTOCOL

For me, the biggest differential of this whole experience was the protocol that Anantara SPA adopts.

In the experiences I’ve had, the professional explains the steps as the treatment takes place. “Now I’m going to apply some grape oil to relax”, for example.

At Anantara, the entire procedure is explained before you enter the room. You also select at this time the “focus” points for the massage or which areas to avoid.

Thus, the experience is done in silence, with just a few more basic instructions and relaxing music in the background.

I’m always worried about keeping my attention during these experiences, afraid of leaving the professional “in a vacuum” if he instructs me to do something and I don’t listen. With this protocol adopted by the hotel, of instructing beforehand, I was really able to be carefree and even take a nap.

Having a “hotel room” in one of the most elegant hotels in São Paulo for yourself is also a big plus and you feel like you’re having a real princess day.
