Recently I began to feel drawn to a nearby cemetery. Something, a feeling, keeps taking me there even though I don’t really want to. I have been practicing the occult for years, especially necromancy, so I used to go to the cemetery to carry amulets and not much more than that. I think it is important to clarify this so that it is understood that I was not trying to “wake up” anyone, but simply work with the energies of the cemetery.

I know how to protect myself, but lately I feel that somehow my spiritual security was violated. Could it be possible that some entity from the graveyard has attached itself to me? Since then I have suffered constant pain in my back, right between my shoulder blades. Meditating, I have been able to visualize dark entities, like red-eyed insects, attached to my skin.

Cemeteries can be very active places, spiritually speaking, or completely inactive, depending on several factors. In fact, the configuration of a cemetery, its location, its design, its age, are some of those factors to take into account. But in general terms we can think of cemeteries as places where the veil between the material sphere and the spiritual world is thinner (see: How to eliminate an astral parasite).

In the past, the location of a cemetery had some essential requirements, such as the layout of its main access, which had to be a straight path. In the Middle Ages, for example, it was prohibited to transport a corpse to its burial along any path other than a straight line. A simplistic, and probably mistaken, exegesis could explain that this tradition sought to encourage the spirit of the recently deceased not to deviate from its predetermined route.

Older cemeteries are more likely to attract disembodied entities; and not for aesthetic reasons, but because the necropolises with several centuries of history were designed following the tradition of the Guardian Spirit (see: The legend of the Guardian Spirit of the cemeteries); a kind of shepherd of souls, if you will.

In this context, older cemeteries may have greater spiritual activity than those that have been established more recently. And even more so, cemeteries in poor condition, especially abandoned ones, often gather a larger volume of entities. Because?

Contrary to popular belief, spirits generally do not like human activity, and will avoid any overly frequented cemetery. Human entities also seem to be more inclined to gather in cemeteries where there are many trees rather than those that occupy an open field. For a spirit or entity from a cemetery to “stick” to a person, several factors need to influence it simultaneously.

Disembodied entities are generally most active at night, especially after midnight; Consequently, its power is greater at those times (which almost always coincide with magical practice). Sunny days are the safest to visit a cemetery; because apart from generalities there are also active entities during the day, especially cloudy days, and some for dire reasons.

If the veil that separates the physical from the spiritual plane is thinner in cemeteries, these factors, such as night, or some auspicious times of the year, such as Halloween night, the winter and summer solstices, the spring and autumn equinoxes , that border becomes even thinner. Magical practice, even in its most innocent form, can attract highly undesirable energies in cemeteries. We can think of these activities as a knife that completely tears through that already thin veil.

What types of entities haunt cemeteries and which ones can attach themselves to people?

Most of these beings are simply astral larvae and worms, which may well adhere to a person and feed on their energy for a time, but do not possess the necessary strength to achieve a longer integration, at least in people physically and mentally. healthy.

They are like mosquitoes. They can suck some spiritual blood but they cannot weaken us considerably. However, people with some degree of sensitivity can notice them quickly, and for them they can be very annoying.

Astral Corpses also haunt cemeteries. They are basically the etheric waste of the deceased, which remains around the physical body and disintegrates along with it. Sometimes they can be visible as small irregular clouds, with a dull glow, that hang over the graves, especially those of the recently deceased.

The energy of these entities, which possess no intelligence, can be intense, and even people who are only mildly sensitive can occasionally detect their faint forms.

In this regard, CW Leadbeater comments that in the book The Astral Plane: Its Scenery, Inhabitants And Phenomena, these etheric debris are the true explanation behind many of the stories of apparitions and ghosts in the cemeteries.

Other entities that lurk in cemeteries are human souls, naturally.

Some are so attached to earthly life that it is difficult for them to completely disconnect from it; so that they feel obliged to stay near their burial place, where the mourning is most intense. This category of entities, very different from non-human entities, are usually harmless, and are rarely visible unless their astral form is extraordinarily dense.

However, few spirits of the recently deceased initially leave the proximity of their physical bodies, fearing that their connection with the physical plane will be severed if they stray too far. They usually stay next to the corpse, attend its funeral ceremony, and finally will remain near its grave for a time.

In extreme cases, the spirit may even attempt to return to the corpse in a futile effort to reanimate it.

In this context, spirits that have a tremendous attachment to the physical form can try to “attach” to the body of anyone who happens to be there. Sometimes they succeed.

There are also dark, malevolent, inhuman entities that frequent cemeteries, including those that feed on the emotions and feelings of those who repeatedly visit the place.

By piercing the aura, these sinister beings further aggravate the suffering of the bereaved, but they can also attack people who practice magic, especially black magic and satanism. Normally, the wound in the auric body usually heals well, and these astral parasites come off after a while, but those who practice magic without taking the necessary precautions can be seriously affected, as seems to be the case with our friend today.

Perhaps the most dangerous subcategory consists of those entities that are attracted to the decomposition of bodies. The stench of death attracts them like veritable swarms of flies, and they often remain near the graves of the recently buried. They can easily attach themselves to a person through any fissure in their auric body, and are difficult to eradicate. They are often visualized, as was the case with our friend, as dark, grotesque insects attached to the skin.

Now, taking all these factors into account, it seems difficult to visit a cemetery and not literally take with you an unwanted guest; But the truth is that there are certain rules of etiquette that one can follow to stay relatively safe.

The visitor’s attitude must always be respectful. You should never listen to music, much less talk in a high tone, make jokes, or laugh out loud. This type of behavior is not only annoying to entities hanging around cemeteries, but it will draw their attention, and that’s not what we want.

Of course practicing magic in cemeteries can be seen as a form of desecration, if you will, but there are safety methods that the practitioner can follow to avoid problems. We will not mention them here, because they are not relevant, but they can easily be investigated.

But even these prophylactic methods are not completely safe if the person desecrates the site, whether, say, by overturning the flowers and offerings that people have left there. Not to mention those who carry out larger acts of vandalism.

In fact, most entities that attach themselves to people in cemeteries are about a response, and not a unilateral action. In other words, offending a spirit in a cemetery can cause you to return home with more than just dirt under your shoes.

What can happen if a spirit is offended in a cemetery?
