Cursed Poems: Classics of Cursed Poetry.

Under the name of cursed poets falls a large number of authors from different literary movements: decadentism, romanticism, gothic, although in reality the number of original cursed poets, that is, those cited in Paul Verlaine’s essay: The cursed poets (Les Poètes maudits), does not exceed a dozen.

Verlaine was the one who assigned the qualities of cursed poetry, that is, its main characteristics. The most important one affirms that the genius of certain authors was also their curse, distancing them from society and altering their style towards forms that can be confused with a grotesque view of the world.

In this sense, cursed poetry is defined by the lifestyle of those who performed it: hermetic, secluded, self-destructive, tragic personalities. Many people could fall under that classification, however, to be a cursed poet it is necessary that all of them be a consequence of genius, that is, of an unusual talent that leads the individual towards the most inhospitable regions of the soul.

In this section of we will give an account of the best cursed poems, an opinion as subjective as it is valid in this provocative field of literature.
