9 ways to end anxiety without leaving home

When the crisis strikes, it is difficult to leave the house or think of far-fetched solutions. And before resorting to medicine, some forms of homemade “therapy” are very effective in reducing anxiety, you know?

1. Breathe right

Worried, you breathe faster and tend to live less, according to Indian philosophy. Controlling your breathing, your heartbeat calms down, your mind oxygenates and you are soon relieved. Are you in crisis? Then do the following exercise:

  1. Inhale slowly and fill your lung completely with air, expanding your abdomen.
  2. Exhale, emptying all the air from your lungs and contracting your abdomen.
  3. Repeat the sequence ten times, counting to four slowly to set the pace for each movement.

2. Sing without using words

Is it difficult to fall asleep? Play your favorite song with just “emes” or “enes”. Nasal sounds are used by mothers of all times and civilizations to calm their babies, because they directly affect the nervous system, helping to release tension and fall asleep.

3. Make a foot bath

Put a handful of rock salt in a large basin with warm water, almost hot, and dip your feet up to your ankles. Salt neutralizes negative energy, generating a sense of well-being, as well as improving blood circulation throughout the body.

  • Cut a passion fruit in half. Soak in 1 liter of water, with peel and seeds. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add a tablespoon of rosemary, another of fresh lemon balm and a third of fine basil leaves. Remove from heat and wait about 15 minutes before drinking. Sweeten with honey.

To ease shoulder and neck pain, drink up to three cups of valerian tea a day, pouring the dried herb into boiling water as well.

6. Hold a “magic crystal”

When you need immediate relief, squeeze a rose quartz or green tourmaline. The stones must be in a raw state, without cutting, as it is the tips that radiate energy.

7. Invest in aromatherapy

In a spray bottle, mix 50 ml of water, 5 drops of rubbing alcohol, 5 drops of chamomile essential oil, 5 drops of geranium essential oil, and 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Whenever you need it, spread some of the soothing liquid in the environment. It affects the functioning of the brain in a positive way.

8. Eat crunchy foods

Since you can’t run away from the fridge when anxiety hits, make careful choices. Carrots and firm fruits have an anti-stress effect, as chewing relaxes. Coffee and black tea should be avoided, as well as all other stimulating drinks.

9. Massage yourself

This simple sequence has the power to dilute worry:

  1. With your right hand, hold your left thumb for two minutes or until you feel the pulsation subside.
  2. Do the same with the middle and little finger.
  3. Repeat on the other hand.
