O cell is one of the devices that accompanies people’s lives every second. It can be used for calls, games, messages and recording special moments. But there are attributes of cell phones that few people know about.
Check out six functions that you can use on your cell phone and did not know:
1. Taking photos while recording videos
This function can be used both on an Android and an iPhone. In the first case, just tap the screen while recording the video. On the iPhone, just tap the icon that represents a camera shutter – it’s a white button next to the main video recording button.
As much as it is very interesting, the quality of the photos will not be as good as those taken in normal camera mode.

2. Read your texts
The solution for eye fatigue while reading long texts is in this function. Phones can read incoming messages or written texts like a radio.
On Android, just say: “Google, read my texts”. On the iPhone, change “Google” to “Siri”.
This not only with SMS messages, but also with WhatsApp.
On the iPhone, the phrase is: “Siri, read my latest WhatsApp messages”. From that command, Siri will read all the messages and even say who the sender is and the time it arrived. On Android, you need to use a specific app – Hatómico or ReadItToMe, for example.
On the iPhone, if you are using a text tool, such as Google Docs, you can select a specific phrase and select the “Speak” option. The device will read all selected content normally.

3. Prevent someone else from using an app
When you want to lend your cell phone to someone but fear that they might read your messages, you can set up “guest” blocking.
On iPhone, look for the “Guided Access” option (go to “Settings”, then “General”, and finally click on “Accessibility”).
If you have an Android, look for the option under “Security and location”. Another way is to find apps like AppLock, which restricts access to Google Play, blocking the download of apps. With HexLock it is possible to create user profiles.

4. Level a bookcase
It’s not just in the virtual world that you can use your cell phone. If you want to nail a picture to the wall or level a shelf, just use this function on the devices.
On Apple cell phones, there is an option in the “Compass” application. Just select the mode and place the device over the object you want to level. While there is still a gap, the app will show the degree and, when it is straight, the screen will turn green.
On Android, you can use apps like Bubble Level, Level With Voice or Clinometer.

5. Detect metals
On Android, an app called “Metal Detector” uses your phone’s magnetic sensor to find earrings, rings, etc. For the iPhone, you can find the same app on the AppStore.
Just move your phone where you’re looking for the metal with the app open and, when it’s found, an alarm will sound.

6. Scan documents
Applications such as Genius Scan, CamScanner and Office Lens are used to convert any type of written document into digital text.
With the Google Drive app, you can click on “Add” (or the + symbol) and choose the “Scan” option. The camera will be activated and all you have to do is frame the document, take the photo and crop the desired area. By clicking on “Accept”, the image will be saved in PDF format.
On iPhone, you can also use the Notes function. From the + icon, choose the “Scan documents” option. Then just follow the same steps mentioned above and click “Save” to finish.
