When I had a formal job, I saved for three months, went to the ophthalmologist and got glasses. I had never seen straight, because I was nearsighted. Think of a good feeling putting on your glasses and seeing everything. My parents couldn’t afford it. © Giselda Lesniki / Facebook
I donated half of the first salary of my current job, because I had made a purpose to donate if I passed the contest and I passed. © Daniela Siqueira / Facebook
My salary was for me, as I never needed to help around the house. But I only invested in studies and buying and selling motorcycles, which at the time was a good deal. But on my first paycheck, my father said: “Now you go to the flower shop and buy your mother a bouquet of roses”. And so I did. © Julio Cesar / Facebook
At the time, my mother dreamed of having a television with a color image, and as it was close to Carnival, I bought a TV and a shelf. I remember that the television was silver and how happy my mother was, in fact it was the first fashion show she saw in color. © Valeria Coutinho / Facebook
I’ve been working since I was 16… And I remember how today, with my first salary, I bought my mother a washing machine, she cried when she received it… Because that was the end of the suffering of washing by hand for years. © Paula Leonardo / Facebook
With half of my first salary, in 1974, I bought gifts for 8 siblings and my parents. My father cried like a child. And I just gave him a box of cocada. © Ieda Maria Rezende / Facebook

With my first salary I took my grandmother to Casas Bahia, and bought a stove of her choice. And I started paying for the phone so I could calmly use dial-up internet on weekends and early mornings. © Anderson Anacleto / Facebook
When I started working my mother was pregnant, I bought a 2 liter pot of ice cream and we ate it straight out of the pot, just like I saw in the movies. We went through a lot of difficulty and that was really ostentatious for the time. © Andrea Souza / Facebook
I shopped at the supermarket without a list and without a calculator. With my father’s salary, everything counted and, when I started working, I was able to help a little more. © Mariluci Dornelas / Facebook

When I was a teenager, I went to cut sugar cane and on the weekend I received 5 cruzeiros. I bought my first pads, shampoo, conditioner and soap. These were luxury items that I had never used around the house. It was in 1986. © Cida Lacerda / Facebook

On my first paycheck, I bought my mom a new fridge and a Gradiente stereo for me — record player, cassette player, drawer for 7 CDs. Think of happiness! And that’s when I started the Casas Bahia credit card… © Jaque Silva / Facebook
My first salary, in 1973, was so much money that I didn’t know what to do. I got home, called father and mother and showed them. I almost “got it”, because they thought I had stolen it. Once clarified, it was just joy. This memory is so good! © Vanei Antônio Ferreira / Facebook
The first salary I spent on chocolate, yogurt and vinyl records. But the others always bought clothes, materials, toys for my younger sister and things for my mother too. © Cristina Feliciano / Facebook
With my first salary, I went to a shop where my father owed an amount he had borrowed to buy medicine and I paid off the bill. I got home and gave him the promissory note and told him what I had done. We cried with happiness because we didn’t know how we were going to pay that debt. © Keli Jaqueline Wiebbelling / Facebook
