13 strategies to simplify life

As much as technology has changed – and facilitated – our lives, we have to admit: the excess of things we end up consuming because of this is gigantic. After all, as we don’t have time for absolutely nothing, we end up preferring to pay so we don’t get more stressed.

However, with a little organization (hello, Marie Kondo!), our lives and our daily lives can be much simpler. So, we have chosen 13 strategies for you to simplify your life:

1. Don’t have more than one bank account

Seriously: do you have all that money to have so many bank accounts like that? If you focus on the basics, you don’t need more than two bank accounts, one for savings and one for transactions. Consider closing an account(s) 😉

2. Pay off all your debts and cut your credit cards
We know this is something difficult to do. But if you put it on the tip of the pencil, you might end up realizing that you spend more than you earn by the false feeling of wealth that the card offers. So, for you to really organize your financial life, nothing better than paying off all the bills and eliminating extra expenses.

3. Accumulate points in one place
After all, why do you need so many loyalty cards? It’s okay that the discounts when you get them are tempting, but at the end of the day, they’re just more stuff you don’t use in your wallet. Opt for a benefits program that you really use often, if at all.

4. Bye, dingy and pierced socks!
And old underwear too! We know you have a lot of these in your closet in case you don’t have any clean clothes (and the laundry basket overflowing), but it keeps old energy circulating in your wardrobe – and in you too. So let’s pack those drawers!

5. You don’t need to subscribe to so many newsletters
Let’s be frank: how many of these emails do you actually read? This pile of junk email makes you lose focus on the really important emails, in addition to bringing a huge amount of spam to your inbox. Email will only organize your life if you organize it too, see?

6. Donate decorative trinkets

How about trying to maintain a minimalist decor in your home for a change? You’ll have so much free space that you’ll start to question whether you really need that much stuff.

7. Choose a cheaper TV-internet-phone combo
Or have none! After all, how much time do you actually spend at home wearing these things? These days, we spend so much time away from home that we barely have time to turn on the TV (at most Netflix). Calling someone, then, it’s not even said! It’s time to think about whether you really need to spend that entire account…

8. Donate bags and coats to women’s shelters
You know you don’t use every purse and coat in your personal collection. In fact, not even half of it. How about helping those who really need it and gaining extra space in their wardrobe?

9. Organize your wardrobe by season

And take the opportunity to clean up what doesn’t serve you anymore too. Remember what we talked about energy?

10. Sell the car to pay off your debts
Before you call us crazy, calculate and realize that a car costs as much as a child! It’s gasoline, IPVA, insurance, tolls… With the money from the sale, in addition to paying off your debts, you can still earn some money – and who knows, maybe even rent your garage!

11. Get rid of useless papers
As boring as it is to organize all the paperwork, keep only what is really useful (documents, contracts, product/service guarantees…) saved. This saves you space – and headaches. Take advantage of the momentum and recycle your magazines and donate your books.

12. Clean kitchen
You know those pots without lids that are lost in your closet? You can get rid of them! Take advantage and remove all the chipped dishes from your cupboards, as well as the spoiled food from the fridge. Cooking in the middle of the mess is really hard – as well as dirty. Look at these 12 tidy kitchen tips to get an idea 😉

13. Healthy habits and expired products
Don’t go on severe diets or be too hard on your appearance. Look for a nutritionist and seek to eat healthy. Do not medicate without first consulting a doctor, or keep expired medicines in your pharmacy kit. The same goes for makeup and cleaning your brushes.
