According to IPEA studies, there are more than 820,000 NGOs in Brazil. In addition to this number, there are Brazilians who help people or animals, without needing to be thanked and without expecting anything in return. They only do it for the pleasure of extending a hand, something they do best.
All people want the world to become fairer. For this, it is important that everyone does something and collaborates to achieve this goal. We brought 10 inspiring examples of people who have attitudes that make a difference in someone’s life.
O awesome.club will show in this post that many people get their hands dirty, proving that sitting still does not change the world. So if you don’t know where to start, we’ve brought good examples.
1. Hyacinth macaw saved from extinction
These biologists at the Zoo das Aves de Poços de Caldas, in Minas Gerais, do a wonderful job: in 2018, they fought hard against the extinction of this species, caused by clandestine trade and deforestation. “We are very happy, celebrating the birth of the cubs”, said Letícia de Carvalho, technical director of the Zoo.
2. Recovered penguins return to the sea
Associação R3 Animal, which is located in Santa Catarina, took care of 10 penguins that were rescued at the beginning of the year, when they come up from Patagonia to seek warmer waters on our coast. Many arrive in Brazil sick and tired, so the researchers care for the birds and then release them back into the wild to complete their journey.
3. Tattoo artist trades her work for food
Rayza Peralta is a tattoo artist from Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, who decided to help the animal cause. Good idea of hers was to exchange tattoo for food. In her campaign, she got no less than 700 kilos of food for the pets and donated everything to the institution Protection of the Environment and Animals (OPAA), which rescues stray dogs and cats. Such an initiative, it just needed an attitude to make it work.
3. Solidarity hazing
The hazing of the UniFil Veterinary Medicine course was very different: the new group joined the veterans (120 students) and went to take care of 60 dogs, treated by a caregiver from the city of Londrina. They even collected cleaning products, food, feeders and collars and made beautiful beds from tires for all the pets.
5. Yoga for inmates
The direction of the CDP in Pinheiros, in São Paulo, got a lot of help: the Indian yoga teacher Sanjay Kumar made his services available free of charge to the prison unit. This attitude has made it possible to reduce fights at the site and has also helped in the resocialization of the inmates.

In the 80s, the Caladinho neighborhood, in Porto Velho, was built by the hands of its first resident, Mr. Joao Roque de Lima. This admirable and courageous man explored the area and managed to open streets, install a health center and basic sanitation, something difficult for the place and the time. The benefactor died in 2005 and the city hall, in 2009, inaugurated a square in his name.
8. Young man recycles tires making bed for pets

Helping other people is an enormous pleasure, because we are dealing with lives and that makes the world a better place. It’s inspiring to know that there are people who take the time to dedicate themselves to others. Any attitude, however small it may seem, makes a difference: reading a book to an elderly person, visiting a hospital, helping stray animals, teaching someone to read… Everyone has some talent they can dedicate to the other.
