When choosing a movie, we often look at its rating, read reviews from professionals, listen to our friends’ opinions, and rule out low-rated productions. However, in this way you can miss out on true masterpieces that for some reason did not please other people.

At the awesome.club we decided to correct this injustice and talk about the most underrated films of recent years.

Drama from the creator of the popular television series This is UsDan Fogelman🇧🇷 The film tells the story of a relationship that spans several decades. The main characters, Abby and Will, fall in love, doubt their feelings, prepare for marriage, suffer a traffic accident and… their history repeats itself. To break the vicious circle, you need to understand how it all started.

Although this work did not arouse the interest of critics, many viewers highlight its tenderness and sincerity.

A criminal action movie that won’t bore you for a minute🇧🇷 At the center of the plot is Roy, who falls into a trap doing his job. The criminal, who in his heart is evidently a good guy, has to get away. Fate unites him with a woman, Rocky, who is forced to go into hiding with him. The brutal killer is attracted to the girl and decides to help her.

Basically, the film is criticized for the differences with the book on which it is based. But his loyal fans argue that the work is unaffected by this.

American drama about adolescence, with an unforgettable atmosphere🇧🇷 Timothée Chalamet, one of the most sought after actors today, plays a boy named Daniel. His father has died and most of the time the boy is alone. His life changes after meeting the beautiful McCail and the drug dealer Hunter, the girl’s brother and who is opposed to her relationship with Daniel.

Hot Summer Nights is criticized for the multiple clichés. Critics found it a repetition of James Dean’s image and scenes from the films. the good companions🇧🇷 Boogie Nights: Unlimited Pleasure and others. But that’s exactly what allows you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 1960s.

Cake — A Reason to Live is proof that Jennifer Aniston is not just a great comedian🇧🇷 In this film, the actress played a very complicated dramatic role, that of a woman suffering from chronic pain syndrome. Her character is trying to fix her life and wants to unravel the mystery of the death of a girl who attended the same therapies as her.

In our opinion it is a work that deserves much more attention than it has received. In 2014, Jennifer should receive, if not an Oscar for best actress, at least a nomination in that category.

The big screen version of Sarah Waters’ famous gothic novel will keep you in suspense from start to finish🇧🇷 The Little Stranger is a story about Dr. Faraday (played by Domhnall Gleeson, Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise), who comes to see a patient at the old mansion. It turns out that something mysterious is happening in this house. The protagonist will have to understand what it is about.

Many viewers found the plot quite familiar. But if you’re looking for a classic gothic drama, then The Little Stranger it is an excellent choice.

Post-apocalyptic thriller starring Tilda Swinton and which tells the story of Earth after the beginning of the ice age. All the people who survived hid in a huge train that travels around the world. In express there is the same hierarchy as in any society. Passengers are divided into classes, and the richest travel in wagons close to the locomotive. Suddenly, a riot breaks out and the rebels decide to head to the main car.

Many critics have described Tomorrow’s Express as one of the best movies of 2013. However, it didn’t get all the attention it deserved.

Dystopian movie about teenagers with superpowers, from the show’s producer Stranger Things🇧🇷 Young people are detained by the government and sent to special camps. The protagonist flees, along with a group of like-minded people, and plans a rebellion against their oppressors.

In dark minds there are episodes that resemble both JK Rowling’s Harry Potter book series and In Search of Watership Down, work by Richard Adams. These parallels make it even more interesting and show that this is not a banal teen movie, but embraces issues of friendship, independence and power.

A film for fans of French cinema🇧🇷 At the center of the plot are handsome Abel and aspiring actor Clement. The guys fall in love with the same girl, a charming saleswoman, Mona, who at the moment doesn’t reciprocate that love. However, both dream of conquering her.

Two friends is the directorial debut of Louis Garrel. Despite the reviews, it’s worth a watch if you’re interested in modern European cinema.

Thriller starring the brilliant Amber Heard🇧🇷 The actress plays Nikola Six, whose bar appearance inspires a writer who hasn’t been able to write a single line for the past two decades. The author tries to discover the essence of this fatal girl and her secrets. Viewers must also solve Nikola’s mystery.

London Fields is criticized for being different from the original source, the eponymous novel by Martin Amis. But the discussion of “which is better: the movie or the book?” it will last forever. So we recommend that you take advantage of both.

A sci-fi thriller about the power of motherly love🇧🇷 Silence tells the story of a woman who travels to Mexico to find a magical stone that must save her son’s life. But the protagonist’s path is full of obstacles.

Critics disliked the lack of realism and the way the film turns the time travel story into a soap opera. The audience that was delighted with the production, on the contrary, emphasized its sincerity.
