Brazil already has more cell phones than people. In all, according to a survey by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) there are about 220 million smartphones compared to 110 million inhabitants. We cannot imagine our day-to-day life without these devices that nowadays replace a multitude of devices, from cameras to location devices. But we bet you don’t fully enjoy your smartphone’s potential and maybe you don’t know about some features. For example, did you know that you can take photos through the headphones?
O awesome.club gathered several ways to use your smartphone in the most efficient way possible. It’s time to try some of them.
1. Airplane mode to improve the signal
If you see that the signal level is low, simply activate airplane mode for 2-3 seconds. This should fix the problem because when you turn off airplane mode your phone will automatically connect to the nearest cell tower which will give you a better signal.
2. Good quality audio capture
To record a video with good sound, cover the speaker with one hand towards the sound source. In this way, you avoid extraneous noise that can spoil the video.
3. Text Replacement
To quickly write messages, set keyboard combinations to replace text or certain phrases, such as message signatures or email addresses. If you don’t have the patience to enter your email address every time they ask, then this tip is for you.
4. Take photo using headphones
How to take a selfie without showing your arm in the photo? If you have an iPhone, you can use headphones: connect them as usual, open the camera and take pictures by pressing the volume key on the headphone cord. That way, you can get a better photo angle.
5. Disable advertising
If you use free apps, ads are likely to annoy you from time to time. Put your smartphone in airplane mode and you won’t have interruptions anymore.
6. Use your smartphone instead of glasses
If you don’t see well and you forgot your glasses at home, your smartphone will help you. Open the camera and point it at the desired object so you can see it on the screen. For example, you can zoom in on price tags in the store or the product description.
7. Improvised optical pencil
You don’t need to buy a pen to draw or use on your smartphone apps. It is also possible to use a dead battery: use the side marked with the minus sign. Now you have a pencil to play with or draw with!
8. Save battery
You’ve probably already set notifications and screen brightness, turned off vibration, and also stopped using some apps to save battery life. But there is another little trick: use a black wallpaper (for AMOLED screens). The screen only lights up the colored pixels, so the more black pixels there are, the less your phone’s battery drains.
9. How to quickly find the phone
“Can you call me? I can’t find my phone”, this is how we ask someone to help us find our phone when it disappears without a trace. But what happens if you’re home alone or silent mode is on? Use Google Device Manager from another device, such as a laptop, to send a beep to your smartphone. The phone will ring until you find it, even if it’s on silent. iPhone owners can also use the “Find My iPhone” feature.
