Surely, everyone who has puppies at home understands the almost irrational desire to want to hug and squeeze their cute, furry little faces all the time. However, when we least realize it — voila — their paws have grown, their ears are arched, and even their fur has changed shade. Of course, that doesn’t make us love them any less, but some may be surprised at how quickly a dog changes when growing up, so it’s wise to know in advance how much each breed changes when reaching maturity.
We, from awesome.club, we have selected 12 dog breeds that change considerably when they grow up, and we are ready to share them with you. Check out!
english greyhound
Initially, the breed was bred for hunting and, in fact, it was very successful in this area. The English Greyhound can reach a speed of 70 km/h, justifying why it is often called the “Ferrari” of the canine world.
tibetan terrier
The Tibetan Terrier appeared approximately two thousand years ago in Buddhist monasteries. The monks needed company and ended up finding it in this dog, which has a gentle and quite compliant character. Moreover, the breed is not usually demanding when it comes to food, which makes it adapt well to the environment, especially the hermit style.
Brie Shepherd
The Brie Shepherd is known by many as “a big heart wrapped in fur”. That’s because this dog gets along very well with children and is generally considered good for home breeding. In addition, the breed usually responds well to training, but is somewhat stubborn and tends to want to have everything its own way.
Australian Cattle Dog
Puppies of this breed are born almost entirely white, with just a few spots on the body. But, over time, its coat gradually changes color.
bedlington terrier
Bedlington Terriers, on the other hand, are born with a grayish-brown or grayish coat, and only after a few months they begin to lighten until almost all the hairs are white. Another characteristic that distinguishes this breed from the others is the fact that it loves to ‘talk’: its owner must get used to hearing some excited barking with a certain frequency.
cane corso
Are you planning to adopt a blue-eyed Cane Corso puppy? So don’t be alarmed when your eyes change color in no time, or when long, brisk walks become routine. This dog tends to get very strong, so it needs to be exercised frequently.
Otterhound
If you dream of living with a big, noisy and shaggy dog, then the Otterhound is the best option. Dogs of this breed are often referred to as the “class clown” as they tend to have an incredibly fun and lively personality.
American Akita
It even seems that all of this dog’s thoughts are focused on just one goal: to serve his owner faithfully — even if that means protecting him by accompanying him to every room in the house — and showing respect at all times. Dogs of this breed usually bark little, on the other hand, they tend to express their opinions with other sounds: from moans to mooing and soft mutterings.
Bearded Collie
At birth, it is not always very clear what the coat color of the adult dog of this breed will be. Over time, the hairs lighten, but when the puppy is between 12 and 18 months old, they gradually darken again until they reach their final shade, which happens around four years old.
dobermann
The Dobermann is a truly talented dog: in addition to great physical characteristics, he has a keen intellect. Therefore, dogs of this breed need daily exercises to develop logical reasoning, which can be done in the form of long walks with games.
bobtail
Already in the first year of life, the Bobtail can grow and weigh 30 kg! So it’s not surprising that puppies require very active walks at all times so that their bodies can release all the extra energy.
saluki
Due to their peculiar physical characteristics, adult Saluki dogs need comfort: they love to rest their long paws on a soft surface, as well as sleeping in their owner’s bed, or even on the sofa in the living room.
