10 Actors Whose Roles Were Eliminated Totally From Final Films

Producing a film is no simple task. Every feature film requires hours and hours of work, specialized teams and, obviously, actors who face the mission of playing the roles well. And although the world of cinema transmits an aura of magic, it is not free from unforeseen events that can force directors to completely change the original plans. Sometimes the film is too long, or a certain scene is confusing for the viewers, which makes the director prefer to leave certain parts out. As a result, some actors end up completely cut from the production.

Curious as it is, the awesome.club prepared a list of 10 celebrities who filmed scenes for certain productions, but their shots were eliminated from the final version.

1. Ellen Pompeo — Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is regarded as one of the classic films of the 21st century. In it, Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet bring characters as lovable as they are mysterious to life. But can you imagine Ellen Pompeo in the plot? the actress of Grey’s Anatomy shot some scenes for the feature, playing Naomi, Joel’s (Jim Carrey) ex-girlfriend. However, the director decided to eliminate the takes, leaving Ellen out. This is because, otherwise, viewers would have a completely different perception of the relationship between the protagonists.

2. Eric Stoltz — Back to the future

You would certainly have a hard time imagining Back to the future without Michael Fox. However, in the original script, the protagonist was Eric Stoltz. Before being dropped from the project, Stoltz recorded for five weeks, but took the character too seriously, failing to give that touch of comedy required by the story. This was the main reason that led to the dismissal of the actor. A curiosity: even with the cameras off, Eric insisted on being called Marty.
