Young man tells how he saved an animal from becoming a fur coat

Zhenya, a young Russian, saved a sable (an animal from the ferret family) from a farm, preventing it from being slaughtered and becoming a fur coat, thus demonstrating that society can improve if we all make an effort for it.

It all started when Zhenya saw a photograph of a sable marten (sable martes) on the Internet. She found the animal so interesting that she started doing more research on the species. After some searches, she found out that she could buy a copy at a farm that raises these animals, but with a less noble goal, shall we say: slaughtering them for fur. So, without much thought, she decided to rescue an animal.

The girl went to the place and tried to remain calm, knowing that those animals were wild and not domesticated. She was aware that she had no experience with such creatures. Umora (the name she later gave the cub) was one of the animals. She ran away and after the young woman grabbed her, she started to growl and bite her, typical behavior of a stressed animal.

The farm staff suggested that she see another pup, but Zhenya realized that if she returned Umora to her cage, she would become a coat and not have a chance to continue living. “She was the first one lucky enough to come out and meet me, so I decided to take her with me,” said the girl. At first, your new pet was wild, easily intimidated, and very nervous. It was then that Zhenya learned that she had a lot of work to do.

The animal showed the same behavior for almost two years, but every month there were small changes for the better. Then, living with Umora started to become something much more pleasant. She started to walk towards the tray of food and started to trust her owner and make contact with her. Now, Zhenya is able to cut her nails, comb her fur and vaccinate her without any problems.

When playing, Umora tries to control himself so as not to cause any harm. In fact, she is not aggressive. This adorable sable weighs about 900 grams, but Zhenya said on social media that, ironically, she has more problems with her than her 40 kg dog. Although it is an omnivorous animal, it loves to eat sweet foods, especially honey and small fruits. She even prefers these foods to meat.

This sable marten is one of a kind. Because? Well, she loves to steal things, especially socks. She has her own hiding places to store everything she finds in her path.

She is very playful and has the ability to open all the doors she wants. Umora she is hyperactive and literally runs through walls. Even the most active cats get tired next to her, after all, that’s part of her nature.

Zhenya recognizes that taking care of her pet has been a very difficult task. However, after so much effort and tears, she was able to see incredible results. Although the routine with her curious pet is heavy, she believes that adopting Umora was one of those moments that make a person’s life change for the better. The young Russian woman stopped eating meat and adopted a completely different lifestyle, more respectful of the environment. Now she only uses cosmetics not tested on animals, from ethical companies and adopts healthier habits.
