Members of the Department of Design at the University of Granada, Spain, analyzed 163 children’s series that keep children hooked in front of the television or computer. They found that many of these attractions are filled with violence and bad language, something that has alerted parents because of the influence they can have on their children. However, surprisingly, they highlighted the content of 10 of them for providing positive values, to which we added others with great artistic richness.

1. Charlie and Lola
This animation is based on an eponymous series of books written by English author Lauren Child. In the television cartoon, Charlie, the 7-year-old older brother, is the narrator, and in each chapter he is very responsible and thoughtful. For her part, Lola, the younger sister, discovers the world thanks to the stories she shares with Charlie. An option that introduces values to the little ones, teaches them to look for solutions in a positive way and teaches older siblings a lesson to take care of the little ones.
2. Jelly Jam
In this animation, children will enjoy a soundtrack composed by Guille Milkyway, winner of the 2010 Goya Award for the best original song by Yo, too, from the homonymous film. Thus, music occupies a very important place. The story takes place on the planet Jammbo, where all the music in the universe is born. A good alternative to learn about teamwork.
3. Caillou
Learning about other cultures and inclusion is a great treasure. The cartoon Caillou is based on the books by the publisher Chouette and tells about the life of a little boy who likes to explore the world with his friends and family. A great choice with lessons in loyalty, teamwork and friendship.
4. Saari
Saari is designed with a great sense of color and design. The animations are really appealing to the little ones in the house and their content is full of symbols. The soundtrack plays a very important role in this series, because even if the characters don’t speak, children’s ears are stimulated.
5. Zoobabu
Guessing games are a great way to teach kids about the world around them. In each chapter, children find out which animal they are referring to, describing where they live, what they eat and their physical shape.
6. Super Cute!
A duck, a turtle and a guinea pig live fun adventures in which they must help each other to solve different problems. Little ones enjoy the songs and learn about the importance of collaboration and friendship.
7. Little Bill
This drawing highlights the importance of the family in the development of children. Bill, the 5-year-old protagonist, is known for his generosity, desire to learn and curiosity.
8. Mama Mirabelle
The stories are set in the African savannah, where Mama Mirabelle shows her audience, made up of different animals, about the experiences she has lived throughout the world. Children can learn about nature and the value of diversity.
9. Peppa Pig
Peppa is a curious little pig who lives with her parents and her younger brother George. Through each of the chapters that make up this series, children can discover different professions, as well as the importance of family life.
10. Shaun the Ram
This series is made using the technique stop motion, where you can pretend that static objects have motion through frame-by-frame animation. It features a slightly mischievous ram who uses his imagination to get himself out of all the trouble he’s been in. Shaun is a leader who teaches children about the value of responsibility.
11. Max and Ruby
This cartoon series is based on the books by Rosemary Wells. It deals with the lives of two rabbit brothers who share adventures. Ruby is the older sister and they both practice empathy and patience.
12. Pocoyo
Pocoyo is a little boy who wants to discover everything in the world. He is joined by other funny characters like Pato, Elly, Loula and Sonequita, who together promote values such as tolerance, respect and teamwork.
13. Daniel Tigre
Daniel Tigre offers valuable lessons for children, such as the ability to progress despite problems and the importance of trusting themselves to make it. The protagonist involves the little ones to participate interactively in each chapter.
14. Curious George
George is a monkey who lives in the city with Ted, a man in a yellow hat who takes care of him as if he were his own child. The protagonist, as his name implies, is very curious and also characterized by his joy and companionship.
15. Dora the Explorer
With the help of Backpack and Boots, Dora, the explorer, manages to overcome the obstacles that are presented in each chapter to escape Zorro, the antagonistic character. It alternates conversations in Portuguese and English, which makes learning this language much easier.
16. Beat Bugs
If parents like The Beatles, this series is likely to be their favorite. The creators decided to make the content of this animation around the songs of the legendary British group, and it is carried out by a group of insects whose intention is to convey messages full of love and fraternity.
17. Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom
A great option for those who appreciate magic. Holly is a little princess and magic apprentice who enjoys all the exploits of her friend, the elf Ben. Kids can let their imaginations soar and discover what these characters have in store for them.
