Having flatulence is something that happens to everyone. We don’t quite understand why it happens or to what extent it is considered normal. Gases are mainly air accumulated in the digestive system and small intestine. The reasons are many, including: talking while eating, eating foods that increase gas production (lentils, apples, and broccoli), the use of certain medications, and the inevitable formation of gas when food is digested. Don’t despair, there are ways to reduce all of this.
Today the awesome.club offers 10 home and natural remedies to reduce gas.
1. Prepare ginger tea
Ginger, like lemon, is an excellent food to cleanse our digestive system. It can undo abdominal discomfort by breaking up excess gas in the intestines. It is very helpful especially for those who suffer from chronic indigestion. Its flavor is quite strong, so it is recommended to add a little honey to sweeten it.
2. Do not chew gum with your mouth open
If eating leads to more gas, chewing gum with your mouth open is even worse, as more air can enter your throat, causing air to build up in your stomach and increase flatulence. You should try to chew the gum with your mouth closed to avoid these discomforts.
3. Eat papaya
Juicy fruit and excellent for making vitamins, papaya contains a special enzyme that helps digestion of food, making it easier to break down proteins and preventing unnecessary gas buildup. Like ginger, it is a natural anti-inflammatory that can improve the movement of the digestive tract.
4. Drink pineapple juice
Loaded with antioxidants and vitamins A and C, pineapple has a great history of benefits to help with indigestion and intestinal inflammation. The juice contains high levels of bromelain which speeds up the digestion of food, and reduces bloating and gas production.
5. Consume chamomile tea
Chamomile tea is a classic when it comes to stomach problems. It is another natural anti-inflammatory that can relieve bowel and esophagus swelling. In fact, a study in Japan showed how chamomile can inhibit symptoms caused by reflux, as well as flatulence.
6. Take apple cider vinegar
Certain bacteria can also cause gas to form in the stomach. Apple cider vinegar helps produce higher amounts of intestinal acids, which can make the digestive process faster and more efficient. You can add two tablespoons to the salad or to make it super effective, boil water and add a tablespoon of vinegar and lemon.
7. Consume mint tea
Relief for the body and mind, mint tea is ideal for relaxing muscles. Mint is a legendary anti-inflammatory herb. By reducing stomach contraction caused by certain foods, tea can dramatically decrease gas production.
8. Mix baking soda and water
Baking soda is a home remedy that many mothers have used over the years. It is a powerful alkali which, when mixed with acids, can balance pH levels in the stomach. To help with indigestion problems, it is recommended to mix 1/4 of a tablespoon of baking soda with a glass of cold water.
9. Avoid fried foods and fizzy drinks as much as possible
Fried foods are very bad for the body. They barely provide the minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids that the body needs to stay healthy and strong. The big problem is that, due to their high content of saturated fats, when digested, they release excessive amounts of unwanted gases. With carbonated drinks, it’s simpler. The air bubbles generate the accumulation of gases that leads to flatulence and burping.
10. Drink water with lemon
Lemon is a very powerful acid, which also has high amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants. It is recommended, to relax stomach muscles and reduce discomfort caused by constipation (such as gas), drink a full glass of warm water with 4 tablespoons of lemon juice in the morning.
