Will taking creatine make me bloated? – GOOD SHAPE

Creatine is a protein that is found naturally within a muscle. You can get it through production, which already happens inside the liver, and the other half of the production you get through food with the consumption of animal products, which include beef, fish, pork, chicken, between others. But it is possible to supplement it to get higher levels.

Both in the female and in the male body, creatine has the same effect: helping to gain muscle mass, hypertrophy, to lose weight without losing muscle, avoiding sagging and that “withered” aspect.

The bloating supposedly caused by creatine is an important myth to debunk. In fact, there is an increase in body water with the use of creatine, however, whenever you gain muscle, there is automatically an increase in body water, because the muscle is a more hydrated tissue, that is, it has more water.

So there is an increase in water, but there is also an increase in muscle, which is not water retention. In addition, the use of creatine has no relationship with kidney problems and stones.

When the bioimpedance exam is performed, which analyzes the body composition (amount of muscle and water, for example), before taking creatine and after – you see a gain in muscle mass and, consequently, a gain in fluid, but it stays inside the muscle, unlike retention, which happens when the liquid stays outside the cells.

The liquid outside the cells, which occurs in retention, can be noticed when squeezing the leg and it becomes swollen with “that finger hole” in the region that was pressed, which is not noticeable when the water is inside the tissue, i.e. , of the muscle.
