Which support is ideal for curtains?

To support traditional curtains, there are currently two options: poles and swiss rails🇧🇷 “The rods are more imposing, they give the curtain a kind of finish. The rails, on the other hand, are more practical and are barely visible”, explains Renato Rodrigues, from Windows Company.

Iron, steel, wood, painted, with patina. The rods can be made with the most varied materials, to match the curtain and environment in which they will be placed. They can also be double. The simpler ones value the curtain more, while the bolder and more elaborate ones draw more attention to themselves. The same goes for the tips (which are at the end of the rod, to hold the rings).

THE basic rule is: if the curtain itself is already eye-catching, opt for more discreet pieces, if the fabric is smooth and discreet, then dare with the rod and end!

The Swiss rails allow easy movement to open and close the curtain with its casters and, currently, they are so discreet that they can be used apparent. But it is also very common for them to be hidden in moldings or curtains.

How should the finish be?

Before, it was very common to use the bandô to hide the rails, rods or blind boxes. But they are falling out of favor. Today it is usual to place the curtain in plaster moldings or to make curtains, also in plaster, to give it a frame.

Leaving the support apparent is also worth it, especially when it adds and matches the decor. Another finishing item is the clamp, which in addition to keeping the curtain open gives it a classic touch. With a discreet hook attached to the wall, it can be made of fabric or pendants. The choice depends on the material of the curtain and the effect you want to create.
