What have these 13 famous people doing who decided to leave Brazil to live in Portugal

The number of Brazilians in Portugal jumps every year. And, among so many anonymous people, there are also many famous people who leave successful careers here to try life in foreign lands. Whether for the ease with the Portuguese language, for the familiarity of the Portuguese people with the cultural productions of Brazil or for the quality of life… the fact is that now we are the ones who conquer the lands there.

Observing this movement, the awesome.club decided to research how some of the “missing people” who settled in the land are doing. Check it out!

1. Marcello Antony

Marcello Antony and his troupe have lived in Portugal since 2018. The heartthrob admits he feels totally at home, but reveals that the decision was not his or his wife’s. After spending eight months in the country to act in a Portuguese TV soap opera, the three children and two stepchildren gave the final word: we want to stay.

In Portugal, Antony is an actor and entrepreneur. He owns a hamburger shop in Cascais, a beach town in the Lisbon metropolitan region.

2. Luana Piovani

Luana Piovani has been in Portugal with her three children since 2019. The actress moved there with her then-husband Pedro Scooby (more on him below). She says that she made the decision so that her children could get out of the “bubble”.

At first, the blonde produced a lot of content for her YouTube channel, Luana Sem Freio. Afterwards, she started to work on Portuguese TV and pay channels.

Giovanna Ewbank chose to live with her three children in a super cute Portuguese village called Sintra. In addition to being closer to her husband, Bruno Gagliasso, who for a certain period was on the recordings of a Netflix series in Madrid, the YouTuber says that her channel has a good audience in Portugal. She also believes that the Brazilians who watch it will enjoy getting to know this little corner on the other side of the Atlantic.

Giovanna has invested heavily in her YouTube channel, GIOH. When asked about working in the country, she says she has no plans, but prefers to leave the doors open: “Portugal is so welcoming that you never know”.

5. Pedro Cardoso

Pedro Cardoso jokes that he is doing “exchange” in Portugal, where he also works as a “housewife” and a book writer. The eternal Agostinho from A Grande Família went to the country with a “bag and gourd” in 2012 to see what life abroad is like. He says he has no plans to return to Brazil, but he doesn’t rule out that possibility either.

6. Mallu Magalhães and Marcelo Camelo

A successful one-two in Portugal, Mallu Magalhães and Marcelo Camelo left São Paulo for Lisbon in 2013 without much pretension. The couple decided to spend a few months in the country and stayed, getting work, making friendships… Since then, the two and their daughter Luísa have remained firm and strong in the Portuguese capital.

7. Miguel Thiré

Miguel Thiré moved to Portugal in 2017. According to the actor, migration is one of the most “comfortable”, due to the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture, which is very assimilated by the local public.

He had even done a soap opera on Portuguese TV before deciding to move there. However, Miguel says that not everything is flowers: “Portugal is an option for quality of life. Now, of job opportunity, it is not!”, he laments.

8. Joana Balaguer

Joana Balaguer went to Lisbon for the first time in 2008. During a stay in Brazil, she met her husband, who is… Portuguese! The two returned together to his homeland, but soon moved to Mozambique and then Australia. However, the actress really wanted to live in the European country. And that’s what she did.

Joana, her husband and two children live in Margem Sul, about 20 minutes from the capital. She plays the Cidades de Portugal program, shown on TAP airline flights, and Instagram Rumo ao Sul, in which she gives tips on the region where she chose to live, among other projects.

9. Thaiane Anjos

Thaiane Anjos has lived in Portugal since 2017. The actress wanted to go around the world and a friend advised her to start in the country, which was not even part of her route. Somewhat reticent, she rearranged her itinerary and left. The “damage” was done: she fell in love! She returned to Brazil just to deal with the move. In Portugal, the young woman has made soap operas and plays.

10. Thiago Rodrigues

Thiago Rodrigues left Rede Globo in 2017 and, right at the beginning of the following year, left for Portugal, where he continued his artistic career. From a program presenter at Globo Internacional, to an actor in Portuguese TV soap operas, Thiago remains active on the small screen.

He is also assiduous on the Brazil-Portugal air shuttle, as he has also worked as an actor in his homeland and has a son who lives with his mother in Rio de Janeiro. Thiago reconciles his acting career with his routine at a bar where he is a partner in Lisbon.

11. Tássia Camargo

Tássia Camargo set foot in Portugal for the first time in the 1980s, in Tieta’s heyday. At the time, she was invited to be queen of the drums at the Carnival of Tomar, a picturesque medieval village. From then on, the artist returned to the country numerous times, until she moved permanently in 2017, in search of quality of life.

Since arriving in Portugal, Tássia has participated in soap operas, advertising campaigns and fashion shows, in addition to directing plays. She says that she is still recognized in the streets for her roles in the plots of the times of Rede Globo.

12. Flavia Freire

Flávia Freire resigned from Globo in 2017, after 19 years of marriage, to go to Portugal with her husband and son. Afterwards, the family of the journalist and former presenter grew with the arrival of another baby.

Since leaving Brazil, Flávia is no longer in the media. She has an aesthetic clinic in the city of Porto, in the northern region of the country, and guarantees: “It was worth it and a lot!”

13. Max Fercondini

No one better to finish the list of famous Brazilians in Portugal than Max Fercondini. That’s because the actor leads a very different life there. He lives aboard a sailboat on the Tagus River, more specifically in a marina in Lisbon. The adventurer is always traveling and has crossed the Atlantic twice in his sailing boat.

In his expeditions, Max captures images to be released in a documentary and share with us this incredible experience, as well as a book on the subject. And he still does some work as a producer and director for Rede Globo.
