As a professional dancer with the renowned ABT (American Ballet Theater) ballet in New York, Misty Copeland spends hours dancing every day and needs a lot of mental and physical discipline. In an interview with Self magazine, the dancer explained how she keeps her energy and high throughout the year by hard work.

First, getting enough rest is absolutely essential to make it through training and rehearsals. “Sleep, sleep, sleep. It may sound like I’m boring, but sleep is really important to me,” she said. Misty also revealed that she is strict with the amount of water consumed during the day and with the foods she includes in her diet – they are her fuel, so they need to offer more energy.

On a typical day, the ballerina likes oatmeal for breakfast and bets on sushi or salad for lunch. As she follows a pescatarian diet, she consumes fish but no other meat, her dinner also includes seafood. “I feel my body adapted well without chicken, red meat or pork. I have more energy without these foods on the menu,” she revealed.

In moderation, even extrapolation is allowed on Misty’s diet, and she loves to cook, both as a hobby and as a way to meet all of her nutritional goals. “It’s good to know what you really put into childbirth. Understand how different foods affect your mood and performance, because it really affects how you feel. In my case, I try to eat what makes me feel good,” she said.
