What are metabolic disorders? – GOOD SHAPE

Metabolic disorders are alterations in metabolism, that is, inadequate changes in the chemical reactions necessary for the functioning of the organism. These disorders can be in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, lipoproteins, glycoproteins, minerals and others. These can be isolated or associated, as in the case of Metabolic Syndrome (obesity with increased abdominal circumference, high blood pressure, changes in cholesterol, triglycerides and insulin resistance) which increases the risk of cardiovascular problems, stroke, diabetes, chronic kidney failure and cancer .

Some symptoms may be related to metabolic disorders, they are:

Cholesterol increase;
Blood glucose changes;
Snoring;
Headache;
Dizziness;
Fatigue;
Menstrual change – for women;
Loss of libido – for men;
Weight gain;
Joint pains;
High pressure;

The main risk factors are:

Obesity;
Sedentary lifestyle;
Smoking;
Insomnia;
Family history;
Age.

How to prevent and treat: LIFESTYLE CHANGE!

Proper nutrition with a balanced diet, which includes the right amount of calories and nutrients that regulate metabolism and help with weight loss.
The practice of regular physical activity, at least 150 minutes a week, in addition to helping with weight loss, is also important to prevent various diseases.
Use of drugs such as “insulin sensitizers”, which help to lower blood sugar, high blood pressure drugs and blood thinners to reduce cholesterol.
