What 10 actors from “Pantanal” were like before they dreamed of participating in the remake of the soap opera

Pantanal returns to prime time on Globo, this time with a brand new cast. Some names are even repeated, but this time in different roles, as is the case of Marcos Palmeira, who in the first version played Tadeu and now returns as José Leôncio. The truth is that since the beginning of these actors’ careers, many have changed, conquering different roles and being hit by the “power of time”, but without ever losing their passion for acting, which has improved even more over the years.

That’s why we, from awesome.club, we gathered 10 veteran actors (or not) from Pantanal who started their career a while ago and have changed a little since then. Check out!

Marcos Palmeira began his career in cinema, participating in Copacabana me Engana, and after a few small roles the boy got a more prominent character in the soap opera Vale Tudo. A few years later he participated in the first version of Pantanal, playing Tadeu, who in the remake is played by José Loreto. Marcos Palmeira plays Zé Leôncio, a central role in the plot, which in 1990 was played by Cláudio Marzo.

Juliana Paes did not take long to become a highlight on Brazilian small screens; the actress began work on Laços de Família, playing Ritinha, a maid who was being developed during the plot, soon gaining prominence. Since then, she has won several roles, including the protagonist Maya in Caminho das Índias. In the new version of Pantanal, she plays Maria Marruá, the woman who becomes a jaguar. In 1990, the character was played by Cássia Kiss.

Murilo Benício made his debut on television in 1993, in Fera Ferida, and since then he has been conquering prominent roles, including the actor who had already worked in another remake, Irmãos Coragem, at the time playing the antagonist Juca Cipó. In Pantanal, he also plays a dubious character, Tenório, who in the first version was played by Antônio Petrin.

Dira Paes began her career on television in Carne de Sol and since then has been working in soap operas and series, with a great highlight in A Diarista, in which she remained on the air for four years. Pantanal is her return to Globo’s primetime telenovelas since Velho Chico; in the remake she plays Filó, previously played by Jussara Freire.

In her television debut, Camila Morgado won awards for A Casa das Sete Mulheres. Some time later, the actress returned to raise trophies, this time for the film Olga, in which the central character of the plot lived, and since then Camila has not stopped standing out in the Brazilian audiovisual sector. Pantanal is her return to soap operas since Malhação: Vidas Brasileiras; in the 21h plot she lives the character previously made by Carolina Ferraz, Irma.

Osmar Prado has an immense career in the Brazilian audiovisual sector, having started on television in 1964, in Tortura d’Alma, on the extinct TV Paulista. The actor went through TV Excelsior, Manchete and SBT, until he established himself on Rede Globo. In Pantanal, he plays Velho do Rio, who in 1990 was played by Cláudio Marzo. To play this character, he appropriated the hair and beard that he was already growing, in addition to using a 5 kg cape that he dragged through the swamp lands.

Selma Egrei is another actress who has extensive experience in the Brazilian audiovisual sector: since 1970 she can be seen in national productions. Pantanal is the actress’s return to Globo’s soap operas, and she plays Mariana, a kind of villain. Selma is part of the soap opera’s Rio nucleus, that is, she did not record in the Pantanal, however, she stated that there is no lack of desire to know the place: “I was not in the Pantanal, because I am in the Rio nucleus. I would love to see a little of this Pantanal world and see alligators, jaguars, giant otters, anacondas”.

Caco Ciocler, like many actors, began his career in the theater, but soon moved to television, making his debut in A Próxima Vítima. The following year, 1996, he returned to TV, this time as Geremias Berdinazzi, a role that later went to Raul Cortez. In Pantanal, Caco also shared his character Gustavo with another actor, Gabriel Stauffer, who played the role in the first phase of the telenovela.

Jesuíta Barbosa is one of the new actors in the Brazilian audiovisual sector; his first appearance on television was in the series Amores Roubados, but previously he had already made films such as O Melhor Amigo and Tatuagem. He even won awards for his second feature. In Pantanal, he plays the protagonist Jove; the young man was praised by author Bruno Luperi: “he IS an actor capable of adding density and complexity to any character without losing fundamental traits, such as sensitivity and tenderness”.

Alanis Guillen doesn’t have as long a career as most of the Pantanal cast; the young woman made her debut on television in Malhação: Toda Forma de Amar and has already won a revelation award at the Prêmio Contigo! Online. Previously, she had only worked in commercials, but never in audiovisual plots, so Pantanal is her second time on television, and again as a protagonist: “The biggest challenge is to remain more and more faithful to her (Juma), to me , to my feelings”.
