Watches of Violence show the importance of the Maria da Penha Law

Did you know that every two seconds a woman is the victim of physical or verbal violence in Brazil? That every seven seconds a woman is the victim of stalking? And that, every two minutes, a woman is a victim of a firearm? So it is, #TáNaHoraDeParar🇧🇷

Domestic and family violence against women was considered a crime after the approval of the Maria da Penha Law (11.340/2006)🇧🇷 With it, victims can denounce their aggressors by physical, sexual, moral, patrimonial and psychological violence🇧🇷

And the law was passed on August 7, 2006, exactly 11 years ago🇧🇷 Due to the date, the Maria da Penha Institute (IMP) is launching the campaign and platform “Watches of Violence”🇧🇷

In it, it is possible to know how many women have already suffered different types of violence throughout the day – and the numbers are negatively impressive. In addition, you will find information about violent acts, what to do to help a victim and you can even support the cause with donations to the IMP.
