Victim of gang rape testifies: “When I woke up there were 33 guys on top of me”

On the night of this Wednesday, the 25th, the shocking video of a teenager who suffered a collective rape caused revolt on the internet. In the images published on Twitter, the 16-year-old appears naked, injured and unconscious in a bed, while men make jokes about the situation. “More than 30 got pregnant [sic]”, says one of them, laughing. The author of the post – who had his account deleted from the social network – wrote: “Did they crush the mine, did you intend it (sic) or did you not intend it (sic)? Hahahaha”. The crime took place on Morro da Barão, in Jacarepaguá, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, and is being investigated by the Civil Police.

“When I woke up there were 33 guys on top of me,” she told the newspaper. The globe on the afternoon of this Thursday, the 26th, after being assisted by the gynecology sector of the Hospital Maternidade Maria Amélia. According to the publication, the victim spent the night at the Legal Medical Institute and has already been heard by the Police Station for Repression of Computer Crimes (DRCI). The Public Prosecutor’s Office is also monitoring the case and reported that it has received numerous anonymous complaints since the video began to circulate on the networks.

still to the newspaper The globe, the teenager reported that she went to her boyfriend’s house last Friday night, the 20th, and only woke up on Sunday. According to the police, the video showing the state of the girl after being raped would have been recorded on Saturday and she was missing until this Wednesday, 25, when she was rescued in Praça Seca by a community agent.

Responsible for the investigations, Chief Alessandro Thies asked anyone who has any information that could help identify the perpetrators of the crime to contact him by email alessandrothiers@pcivil.rj.gov.br.

The Commission for the Defense of Human Rights of the City Council of Rio de Janeiro (CDDH) also expressed its opinion on the case: “It is an act of barbarism and cowardice. The aggression against this young woman is also an aggression against all women. We are witnessing increasing dehumanization and disrespect for others. The biggest victims have been women. Our solidarity with the abused young woman, her family and all women”, says the note.
