Twins with different skin tones surprise their mother at birth

Perhaps, at first glance, you might think that the two children in the photo above are not alike, but they share a unique bond. Although many people initially don’t believe it, the boy and girl who star in this post are twin brothers and despite their physical differences, the connection between them is really extraordinary.

Despite the very few chances of twins being born with different skin tones, this is not impossible to happen. Still, seeing for the first time that your newborn children have different skin tones should come as a big surprise.

In fact, when Judith Nwokocha (the children’s mother) gave birth in 2016, she said she was in shock: “I remember thinking that the nurse brought the wrong baby to me. Haha ha”. Well, we can say that you can’t blame her for that.

Kachi has type 2 oculocutaneous albinism (OCA), an inherited condition that causes an individual not to produce enough melanin (pigment), which affects appearance. Eye, skin, and hair colors look different compared to those with normal melanin content.

One in four children has a chance of being born albino when both parents carry the gene responsible for the mutation.

Even with the condition, which makes her skin more sensitive to the sun and requires the girl to wear glasses to correct a slight problem with her eyesight, Kachi is perfectly healthy.

Born in Nigeria, Judith works as a photographer in Canada and is always producing images of the everyday adventures lived by Kamsi and Kachi.

It’s not hard to imagine that some people have a hard time believing that Kachi and Kamsi are twins. However, although Kachi draws some attention when walking down the street, Judith doesn’t allow it to become something negative. In fact, one of the reasons the woman takes so many pictures of Kachi and Kamsi is to show her daughter that she is as beautiful as her mother.

Judith often talks openly about how blessed she feels to have two wonderful children, saying that even though the children have different skin tones, they are very similar in many ways and that the bond between the little ones only grows every day.

The story of Kachi and Kamsi is undeniable proof that what makes us different is what makes us unique. The twins are four years old today and enchant with the affection they dedicate to each other.
