Try : Workout inspired by the 80’s –

Rescuing the aerobic gymnastics classes of the 80s and 90s, the Queima Diária training platform brought online the experience of the modality that became a fever in gyms at that time, to a certain extent influenced in Brazil by the films starring Jane Fonda and John Travolta : The Aerobika. First, about the platform: I found it super organized, the workouts are easy to find, in addition to having divisions according to your interest and physical level. Aerobika (as well as all workouts) have videos that explain the class and some recommendations of what you need to know before the first class, which I found super necessary and important for a workout where you do it at home and without face-to-face monitoring of a professional.

Classes last 25 minutes each, where the trainer, Patrícia Beires, teaches steps that are very reminiscent of 80s/90s movies and look like a dance. I felt that it takes a lot of attention to do the repetitions correctly, which is great because then you focus on yourself and the moment, allowing your mind to relax a bit. I confess that, at first, I thought it would be a light workout to do (how innocent) and I was surprised to see, at the end of the workout, how much energy I had spent even doing the low impact version.

The funniest thing was how I didn’t notice the effort I was making when performing the movements, since the training is super fun and doesn’t require speed to do each movement (like a tabata training for example which is fast and intense), although you don’t stay still for those 25 minutes, since your rest is active (you are marching in place). I confess that, despite loving it, I missed the characteristic songs of the 80s. I believe it would be the icing on the cake to liven up (even more) the training and complete the proposal of the nostalgic theme.

The recommendation is that classes be held four times a week, with rest on the other days. Basic elements such as turning, crossing legs, kicking, jumping are required throughout training and are available to everyone. “Aeróbika was planned to be a workout for everyone, no matter the weight, physical conditioning or age of those who want to take the classes. The most important thing is to have fun and be healthier”, says Flávio Areal, manager of Digital Products at the Queima Diária platform.
