Toxic people: learn to deal with them and get to know the profiles

If someone you live with often has the ability to get on your nerves, cause sadness and diminish your accomplishments, beware: this person can be toxic.

Toxic people are everywhere and have the ability to harm lives in ways that are often imperceptible. Want to know more about it? So, continue with us!

Types and characteristics of toxic people

There are different types of toxic people. Some can accumulate several characteristics of each type, depending on the degree of toxicity. See, below, 4 types of toxic people!

the victims

They are those who cannot take responsibility for their own lives. Anything wrong that happens to them, they get someone to blame. A good example is when you see someone you love doing the wrong thing and you feel guilty for not being able to convince them to do the right thing.

the controllers

Around them, you can’t have an opinion of your own. Everything has to be done the way they want. If they are contradicted, these people make a mess that makes them lazy to face and, therefore, people tend to do what they want. An extremely tiring relationship.

the liars

They are capable of anything to get what they want. It even distorts reality in your favor. At the slightest sign of invention and/or increase in facts, be on the lookout! Don’t forget that omission, that is, hiding what happened, is also a form of lying.

the envious

For these people, good things should only happen to them. No matter how many achievements they have, if the next one achieves something they don’t already have, they are jealous. Such a feeling is what makes many people use various tricks, such as blackmail and manipulation, to destroy the happiness of others.

Relationships with toxic people

Living with toxic people is something more normal than you might think. They are everywhere: family, work, friends, etc. Many people have a life full of accomplishments and, even so, they get sick for no reason. Frequent headaches, low self-esteem, weight changes, among other symptoms, can be caused by a relationship with a toxic person.

The important thing is to use information and self-knowledge to your advantage. Knowing how to identify a toxic person and being aware of their strengths and weaknesses is fundamental to learning not to get carried away by toxicity in relationships.

Signs of a toxic relationship

Not being able to say “no”: setting boundaries is critical to developing a good relationship. So if something doesn’t suit you, don’t be afraid to say “no”. Being afraid to deny something can be a sign that you are dealing with a controlling person and their subsequent attacks when contradicted, for example.

Negative energy: you know when you talk to a person and, even after saying goodbye, you get the feeling of being “loaded” with bad feelings? This is a sign of a toxic relationship. Of course, there is always that person who is going through a bad phase and ends up passing it on to those who live with them. But if you’ve been with someone for a while and this always happens, be careful.

Accumulation of annoyances: the person gets ready. You say you didn’t like it. She apologizes, but a short time later, she is up to no good again. Because you like her, you avoid complaining and expect her to “fail”. Did you recognize the situation? So do yourself a favor and don’t do it again! If you comment that you didn’t like a certain attitude and the person keeps doing the same things, walk away.

You change for the worse: if you don’t recognize yourself anymore, you stop doing things you liked before, your mood changes, among other things, be careful: you may be living a toxic relationship. The chances are even greater if a family member or friend comes to comment on this change in you. Be alert!
