These girdles are a little boost to your confidence; I tell you my experience

Writing this review has not been easy at all. I hate girdles. Or rather, I hated them.

For some years now I have considered myself a promoter of ‘body positive’, body diversity, self-love, health at all sizes and other movements related to health. corporal justice.

Shapewear is not exactly the most body positive thing. Its purpose is to shape the body, shrink it and make it look as close to a desirable standard as possible.

I used my first girdle when I was 12 years old. My mom lent me one for my primary school graduation celebration!

No hard feelings. For her it was something very natural, like when she bought me my first bra. All good, all over.

But that was the first of many times I subjected myself to suffocating, rigid, horrible girdles.

Over time, my view on myself and bodies has changed. As I already said, I try to be very vocal about body acceptance issues and every day I walk a complex path towards self-love.

Still, here I am talking about the Shapex shapewear and, believe me, I have very good reasons.

Shapex Girdles

I received a package with a pair of Shapex shapewear.

Shapex is a Mexican company that manufactures shapewear, leggings, tops, shaping panties and more.

Initially I was very surprised when Shapex stated that it was created with the idea that the body is to celebrate. Then I understood why.

These girdles are not intended to change your body or shrink it or subject you to torture.

First for its materials. All their products are made with a composition of nylon and spandexscratch-proof and with great freedom of movement.

Second, the sizes. These girdles are available in a wide variety of sizes so that you don’t have to subject your body to infamous miniature garments. The garment adapts to your body and not the other way around.

Here’s an example, the one on the left is a size L Japanese girdle that I bought years ago. The one on the right is a Shapex size XL:

The little push you may need

Loving, accepting, caring for, celebrating the body is a path, not a place where you finally arrive and stay.

This path is long, complex, with ups and downs.

After using Shapex girdles I understood that they can be a support for those who are beginning to try to love themselves. Also for those of us who have a longer journey, but are not exempt from bad days.

These girdles are a little boost of confidence.

You can breathe, you can walk comfortably, you can move naturally, they are not noticeable, they are not tight, you don’t hate them.

They are simply a little help to finally encourage you to wear that dress, to try those pants that didn’t suit you, to dare to wear that skirt, that blouse, that thing that you thought didn’t fit you well.

All of those clothes look good with or without a girdle. Shapex garments do not change the body, they define it, improve posture, bring out “the best” and I appreciated it very much.

As you can see, the change is very subtle, but if you don’t feel good about the folds on your body, Shapex gives that little push.

My conclusion is that Shapex is a Mexican brand with an interesting and necessary philosophy for this type of products.

It was very comfortable to wear these girdles, it reconciled me with the shapewear and it doesn’t hurt to have one in the drawer.
