There’s a reason God brings you closer to certain people and then lets them go.

People always say you can’t really explain why you feel a certain way about someone. Why you get along with some people more than others or why you suddenly feel connected to a stranger.

I feel that God brings us closer to certain people because these are the people we need in our lives right now. These are the people who teach us important lessons about life or about ourselves.

There is a reason why God moves your heart closer to a specific person and a reason why you cling to certain people more than others. When I look back, there isn’t a person I’ve really been attached to who doesn’t have something valuable to teach me or who hasn’t played an important role in my life. And the irony of it all is that most of these people were temporary because their duty was to show me a different path and then set me free.

Sometimes the stage of your life determines what kind of people you attract and I think God sends you the people you need at exactly the right time. He gives you the answers you were looking for through these people. It lights you up by bringing you closer to people who bring out the best in you. He helps you when you are in need of help, bringing you closer to those who are able to lift you out of the darkness.

It’s just that sometimes we try to turn these temporary people into people forever, but that’s not their role. They are not meant to stay in our lives forever. God called them to be there for just a short time. God has called them to be in our lives so that we can become better for those who must remain forever.

The problem is that we get frustrated when these people leave. We don’t understand why God would take something so beautiful away from us. But if you look at it from the perspective that if these people stayed forever, maybe their beauty would fade, their love would die, their story wouldn’t be inspiring, and they might throw a burden on our shoulders that you weren’t meant to carry. And that’s where it all starts to make sense.

The essence of letting go is an act of faith. Faith that this story is best left as it is. It is better to let God write the way. Maybe by trying to rewrite it, we spoil the story. Maybe the change doesn’t give you a happy ending. Maybe these people are angels sent to you to teach you a lesson or heal you or make you a better person and when their time is up they will fly away.

For they were meant to be placed forever in someone else’s life.
