The way you walk says a lot about your personality.

A private study conducted in 2017 by Caleb Backe, a health and wellness expert, shared and compared walking speed and gait with the “Top 5” personality traits. Such traits were openness, pleasure, neuroticism, extraversion, and conscientiousness. Other categories studied included personality types classified as the supporter, Driver, and Broker, among others. These are categories that distinguish what your walking style reveals about your personality.

In this post, the awesome.club will share with you, the reader, some relevant information about different ways of walking, drawing a parallel with personality traits.

1. The Executive

If you are an “executive”, you tend to walk very quickly, with quick, decisive steps. People like that walk confidently, with their heads held high, and tend to be deep in their own thoughts. Executives generally don’t care about those around them, and can easily bump into others. You are goal-oriented and great at problem solving; however, it can also appear hostile and energetic.

2. The Broker

When you are a “broker”, you usually walk taking small steps and with your body hunched over. People like this also tend to avoid making eye contact with others around them. This is because brokers are usually very introverted and shy. They prefer to keep their “up guard” before connecting strongly and genuinely with someone.

3. The Policy

In most cases, those classified as “politicians” walk haughtily, with their heads held high, their chests forward and their shoulders back. They are people who want recognition and appreciation. They also like challenges and new experiences, but they tend to get tired easily. If you walk like this, you probably have no trouble speaking in public or making connections with people.

4. The Worried

It is common for the “worried” to walk slowly and with great caution. If you are one of them, you certainly take small steps, even dragging your feet. Worryers tend to keep their eyes on the ground and often appear restless. They are introverted and thoughtful people, but on the other hand, they can present some moments of fear and vulnerability.

5. The Relaxed

The “relaxed” are those who tend to walk more calmly. They usually walk at a slow to medium pace, with a loose body and a carefree posture. Their gestures tend to be restrained, and sometimes these people can be caught talking to themselves. If you’re a “slacker”, you certainly focus more on others than on the tasks themselves, and may seem lost while walking. We are talking about a very calm and intuitive personality, but who can present traits of laziness and someone who is easily influenced.

6. The Shown

The “showy” usually walk with self-confidence and firmness. When walking, they sway their arms and hips in an exaggerated way, wanting to attract everyone’s attention. If you’re part of this group, we bet you like to keep your head up, your shoulders back, and your focus on yourself. The “show-offs” may seem selfish and unreliable, but they exude an imposing and charismatic personality.

7. The Supporter

A “supporter” usually walks in confident steps, with an average pace. He is a personality that does well in team games. In addition, they are people who like to listen, speak attentively and who value unity and relationships. They are helpful, loyal and trustworthy individuals. A simple phone call from a loved one is enough to brighten the “supporters” day. Like “politicians”, they often gesture, make eye contact and interact with other people as they walk.

8. A Short Step

Those classified as “short stride” tend to keep one foot close to the other while walking. In addition, they tend to act as self-centered and undemanding individuals. However, especially women should be aware that short steps can be caused by pain in the calves and hamstring muscles. In some cases, they indicate a possible hip problem.

9. The Crossed Arms

The one considered as an “arms crosser”, is usually a person who prefers to be alone or even live without sharing space with anyone. Walking with your arms crossed also means vulnerability. Communication experts point out that crossing your arms when walking is something dangerous, especially at night, as it can send a signal that you are a fragile person, easy prey for possible miscreants. In these cases, walking quickly, with the body vertical, demonstrating confidence and with the arms along the body is always better.

10. The Stamper

If, as you walk, you seem to be “stamping” the ground with your feet, you certainly fall into this category. These are people whose walk indicates anger, frustration and persistence. However, in some cases, walking “stamp” may mean that your body is trying to send a signal to your brain. This may be due to the positioning of the limbs, usually as a result of the loss of sensation in the limbs.

11. Multitasking

If you can multitask and still walk simultaneously, your classification is a multitasking type walker. People like this are unique and creative, as they tend to let their imaginations run wild as they walk. They are people capable of handling several things at once, whether answering a call, guiding someone or even crossing the street, all at the same time. If you belong to this group, you are certainly someone who is courageous, with an ability to solve problems. He is always interested in helping friends who need it most.
